I have passed my C+ E recently ideally I would like to do some driving jobs on a releaf driver bases along side my current job or is that unrealistic I phoned a few agency and they said it would affect the working time directive but I thought drivers work long hours I get three days off a week I wanted to fill them driving to gain experience so to take the jump into full time but I wouldn’t like to think I give up this job to get layer off down the line [emoji17]

I also work full time and can ‘drive’ one day every other weekend. Downside is finding work when I’m free, but it has happened and been a good learning curve and taster for full time trucking!

Try a different agency,
I drive 2 or 3 shifts per week & have a business I work in 3 days per week,
As long as you observe your daily & weekly rest requirements & take required breaks, no problem
I will keep trying thanks I was just a bit confused

Your job in healthcare has no bearing on the working time regulations for mobile workers, and a quick look at the general WTD suggests that any work done as a mobile worker does not count towards your weekly average working time in healthcare.
I will check that more thoroughly when I get a chance, but on the face of it the agency bods were talking nonsense … that’s hard to believe isn’t it
ROG:
I looked into this and the two types of WTD are separate which means one does not get added to the other
The fact that they’re separate regulations means nothing.
The EU drivers regulations and UK domestic drivers regulations are separate regulations but work done under the EU regulations counts as work for the UK domestic regulations, on the other hand driving under UK domestic regulations does not count as driving under EU regulations but driving under EU regulations counts as driving under UK domestic regulations.
You cannot say “the two types of WTD are separate which means one does not get added to the other” because it just doesn’t work that way … well not always anyway.
