Tell me in detail how I should go about securing this load to ensure I do not find myself on the receiving end of a VOSA fixed penalty fine :
Trailers do not have separate internal nets fyi.

try and chuck some mt pallets on top then strap over done loads like that before back to burton never had a problem they never seemed to move
If you make an attempt at securing it then that’s better then not attempting it, if it’s not to their desired standard then they’ll advice you on what to do but won’t fine you.
If all barrels are topped with the stacking pallets ie the blue green yellow plastic then strapped at the 2 points on each pallet that SHOULD be ok as for the centre stack is there any reason that the top pallet could not be wrapped ?
The 1st question really is .
Is this load all for 1 delivery ?
if not how many delivery’s are there and what’s the break down for the delivery’s

You can’t strap the plastic locator trays because the slightest tension makes them distort into a crumpled mess and they slide off the top of the kegs when you try it too.
It is all for 1 destination although not sure what difference that makes.
The reason the middle ones are on wood pallets is because they don’t have any locator trays.
Left hand down!:

don’t see the reason why it all up and down not spread evenly they’ve just done product In one hit another product in anotherThe reason the middle ones are on wood pallets is because they don’t have any locator trays.
don’t mean they cant be wrapped
When we loaded for Jursey Gernsey etc everything had to be wrapped due to the movement on board ship same thing on a truck really.
I would have got the high pallet in the middle put down on the deck at the back. Then, as said, pallets on top and straps.
I’d get the customer to make it fit for transport. Where are you going to find 26 pallets conveniently lying about that no one wants?
some thing along the lines of this
everything shrinkwrapped to the pallets /locator trays ,roof straps across the center of each pallet then ratchet strap front to back crossed over at the back to stop movement rearwards VOSA happy with this form of strapping at least twice for me so will carry on the same
got to ask the OP on your pic why your highest pallets are in the middle and not against the bulkhead is this for weight distribution ?

some will scoff at you for that but I take my hat off to you Driver your showing how it can and should be done with min fuss.
Hiya…if it was a regular job i’d get a brick net just roll it over the barrels and tie off.
i know its ■■■■ you have a million slip,s trips, and falls (H&S talk)trying to sort that lot out,
if you take it easy on roundabouts and turns you’ll get there its the people making rules
who have never done the job. how can you climb over that lot when H&S say you need
a frame anything higher than 1.73 meter,s off the ground. it isn’t falling off in you case
its falling in between the barrels. the idea of putting pallets over the top is good what about
the weight and lugging heavy pallets around on top of barrels. its obvious the fork truck
dosn’t want to be involved or the pallets would be in place.
Vosa should have a word with the sender instructing what wrap or banding should be used
no one listens to drivers. they just say someone will do the job if you dont.
when my god father had lorries in Bass at Burton he had the trailers that tapered
in towards the top. i think the barrels lay on there sides in stillages 3 in a row and 4 rows high.

Bang on RT your right there down to the bloody supplier and as such the driver should say " Where do I park while you sort this ■■■■ out "
hiya …that,s a,good job of loading that 4 wheeler BUT vosa said if a lorry flips over they don’t want
the load to go flying through the roof all over the road. that,s what my mate was told he needed to
strap 1 ton packs of bricks (banded)to the deck so they wouldn’t go through the roof in a incident.
I know can they do any better…they are just there to put you down.
Very badly loaded.
Fourth stack back look like they are unstable already.
Fifth stack 3 high…why? From pic looks like there is nothing on the other side of the top stack.
If the plastic locator trays are so flimsy then surely they are not fit for use in transportation.
I would not contemplate moving that load as it is.
Stacks need banding or at the very least good cling film/shrink wrap.
Looks to me like the customer couldn’t give a toss once their goods are on the truck, dump it on the driver!!!
I would also say that this type of load would need some form of specialised trailer/load restraint system(nets?) to satisfy VOSA.

Never mind satisfying Vosa It needs to satisfy the driver 1st

Exactement!!
I’m definitely going senile - I spent so long looking at the OP’s gallery that I forgot how I got there, and why. Came back to trucknet, clicked on this topic and realised that this was where I started
Doubt this is of any help though…
you cant beat the health & safety brigade it all depends on which side of the bed they got out of,we have all been carrying these types of loads for years with no problems, so now they say its got to stay on the trailer if it turns on its side, what a load of cobblers, some loads just cant ( what about tippers the sheet wont stop it will it ),vote ukip get back to normality

used to load 200l barrels of fuel additives in a refinery in rouen, 4 on a pallet. always asked for pallets to secure the load, always got them. they don’t need to be branded pallets, any old single-use pallet will do.
