Question - Safety shunt?

WTF is a ‘safety shunt’ please?

I know every day is a school day but I have no idea, unless it’s the tugs you take to make sure the 5th wheel is locked on properly? TBH I normally take a torch and have a look but admit to being paranoid about trailer loss

Please help all you Obi Wans out there

Back under trailer until you hear/feel that the jaws have engaged, select forward and give it a tug to make sure,Thats tug as in attempt to drive forward. Not in a dipper way !

Thank you. That’s what I guessed.

Just not heard it called that before

I was expecting a ‘Dipper-ism’ once I used the word ‘tug’

I always tug it twice, and if my senses start tingling I tug it again

When I did learnt to drive trucks, my trainer said when in a difficult situation, “don’t be a c**t, take a shunt”.
Or put another way, don’t struggle, do it safely.
i.e. a safety shunt
What is described above is a pull test…
