A lot of people would have just put it on break but POA is the correct mode. I personally would have used POA mode myself.

The rules for POA state the driver must know what the waiting time will be so in the OP senario what was the driver told ?

Update: I got home at 2.30 am Sunday morning.

Boss reminded me that I had selected the incorrect mode on the tacho :wink: So, full daily rest was achieved upon completion of repair!

Only reason I got a day off was that I should have been home Friday night but due to incompetant arse wipes in a certain Scouse DC, and an unforseen break down, never made it!
