Ok this could be a stupid question but I have downloaded the trucker timer app on my phone and under the EU preferences section it has WTD continuous work limit and WTD shift breaks
What is this?

under the WTD you can only work a max of 15 hours (ALL work counts toward this) but im not sure about the shift break, i think its the time spent between shifts!
Actually, thanks for this post as sometimes i have to use manual tacho’d trucks and this app is just what i need to keep legal! im PARANOID everytime i use one that im going to go over my 4.5 hours! LOL! I MUCH prefer the digi units that tell you how long you have driven ETC…
B…
It’s very good app I have found but I normally drive tankers so don’t do too much long haul trucking so I can keep legal easy enough.
I knew about the 15hour rule but thought that what it could be.
The shift break could be for double manning? I’m sure someone in here will know

Actually the 15 hour day has nothing to do with the WTD, the maximum 13/15 hour day comes about because of the daily rest requirement in the drivers hours and tachograph regulations

I have the programme installed on my phone but have never used it, but I imagine the “WTD continuous work limit” would be for the 6 hour rule, the “WTD shift breaks” would be the breaks that you’re legally required to have for the WTD during the shift.
Some people don’t bother about the working time regulations so you can turn them on or off.
6 hour rule: Legally you should not work more than 6 hours without a break of at-least 15 minutes.
WTD shift breaks: If your total working time in a shift is more than 6 hours but not more than 9 hours, you should have a break of at-least 30 minutes during the shift.
If your total working time is more than 9 hours you should have a break of at-least 45 minutes.
These breaks can be split into breaks of 15 minutes or more.
WTD breaks also count as driving breaks where they’re appropriate, and vise versa.
edit: here’s a link to some posts that explain the working time breaks in more detail.
thanks for that tacho, im off to download the rules for some light reading tonight lol
