Question on breaks, speeding etc

Is it the norm to go through inductions and assessments with companies where they tell you you must stick to the speed limits and follow the rules on breaks, then find all the drivers are ‘bouncing off the limiter’ and putting the tacho on break while they handball a couple of pallets off as it’s the only way they can get a decent finish?

YEP

Nope

That would down to the choice of each individual driver but if they are hourly paid then I fail to see how it is to their advantage to do so

Depends who is going to benefit from this

But really up to you

At depots where you have to unload your own trailer, like Aldi and Lidl, the Vosa are aware of this and can at any time enter the premises to check the mode on the tacho, if you are on the rest mode while tipping the load it is classed as fraud.

Even when salaried I fail to see the benefit and I’ve been paid both salaried and hourly. My opinion is that once you start to do it your on a slippery slope and you’ve just shafted yourself! I’m far from being an angel, I’ve broken speed limits, I’ve even forgotten to change mode on tacho and tipped on break or poa. Any co that ‘unofficially’ expects you to do the above isn’t a co worth working for, when the proverbial eventually hits the fan your gonna be on your own as they have the ‘induction’ and your signatures to back them up.

Can’t find that in the sanctions policy, I do see ‘incorrect mode use’ though. £30 fp, Verbal warning or Follow up enquiries.

No such thing as a decent finish if you drive for a living :frowning: As for breaks take them when your meant to…you as a driver get no benefit from doing otherwise… oh and never ever speed
