I have one of those 24 volt waeco kettles that I have never used, but with the heating oil probably kicking off in a month or two was thinking it be handy to have as we do a lot of early 2/3 am starts to get first loads into the heating oil depots before drivers block up the place.
Question is are they ok just to plug into the 24volt input direct or is there anything I should know? just got my new truck so dont want to ■■■■ off the boss lol
You need to check the amp rating on the cigarette socket, the Waeco draws 16 amps but most sockets are only rated at 10 or 15 amp.
I bought a Durite socket rated at 20 amp from a seller on ebay (about a fiver) to replace the original socket on my FM, then changed the 10a fuse for a 20a, been using the kettle regularly with no problems. Another option is to change to a Hella plug if your motor has Hella sockets, as these are often higher rated.
Obviously this won’t be possible if you’re cab hopping, but if you have your own motor it’s a simple job to upgrade the socket.

Thanks.
get caught with a 24v kettle that you intend to plug in, in a fuel depot and you will not have a boss to ■■■■ off
Race Trucker:
Plug it in 20 mins before getting to a depot and un-plug as you roll onto site… Hot tea, no bang bang and you keep your job!
Yup that what I thought. Doing fuel for over 6 years now and changing company shortly mainly because I get my own rig fed up of this sharing crap. They do a lot of work for home heating oil companies as well as petrol so wanted a way to have a cup of tea early mornings as some of the heating oil depots require us to be in with the first load before the staff.
