Question for you artic drivers

phil the book:
Asda,s could use one of those turntables at there shop in Southgate.

Easy I used to turn in the entrance at the bottom of the ramp and reverse in! Used to get a cup of tea
from the old dear who complains about the fridges there too if i was waiting on the ramp

Should be able to do it with a 40ft using a 4x2 unit fairly close coupled. You’d need to aim the trailer for the mid-point inbetween the pillars.

Tesco have loads of short stubby trailers for this kind of tip though.

for all you drivers who either love or hate ā€œtightā€ spaces i think you should see this, its a great piece of footage… :grimacing:

I think you probably could, with a few shunts!!
The West Quay in Southampton is quite tight, and it looks like the John Lewis boys have to blindside it into their bays :open_mouth:

i never did envy them. especially the 2nd trailer :open_mouth:

Thinking about it, they use those dinky sized daycabbed DAFs dont they, and the trailers dont look quite full sized either…?

Me… don’t think so, never had enough practice since passing my test.

Wife… yes, probably, seen her do similar to this before, got pics somewhere…

well where ive been was in liverpool somewhere… first pic looks ok but that was the dead end (and wanted a pic of my truck in there) so i didnt make the pic properly so you could see all the posts on the left to show the tightness!!!
but you will see them in the next!! :stuck_out_tongue:

i dont believe that you took this pic just to show how tight it was…i think you was takin a pic of the chick with the nice baps

sorry maverick … Im not a lesbian!!!

took some more pics for the few that asked about the enterance/exit. only this time round the gap between the red and bollards and the scaffolding/wall has been made smaller as the builders have pushed them out some more according to the secuirty guard

like i say i take my hat of you drivers on here who could get a tautliner in there without even glancing away from your dvd   :grimacing:

You’d struggle to get an artic in there without the trailer wheels clipping the blocks on the near side, but I’m confident I could get in there. If a swing round to the left is needed though, I would have serious concerns about taking out the intercom pole or grazing the hand rail with the rear trailer swing. Would need to go really carefully and need to get out a few times to check clearances at the arse end.

Looks like a T-shaped layout, so turn one way and reverse the other as bullitt, Newmercman, RobK have said.

But with all that building work going on, I’d tell them to ā€œget tae!ā€. I’d also say the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  tipper and the other car either side of the entrance shouldn’t be parked where they were.

You would definately struggle to get an artic past that skip & stuff because of the way the right kerb bends left. Without the skip there, then i’d say its do-able.

pull in go left towards blue thing and reverse

Try it, you might like it…

As for the OP’s question, no chance.

gm:
Most underground delivery points are designed for artics so the answer woud be yes -
but you have to take into account the muppets who also deliver /work there blocking the access
Heights don’t seem to be an issue as it would give you a height as you entered the complex
cheers
Steve
