Query working hours

I am a HGV driver going back in to the industry after a gap away, i was just going over the Driver hours etc refreshing myself,i know driving hours, but cannot remember the maximum duty time you are allowed to work, for example if you are doing a mixture of other work and driving, but you do not use up your 4.5 hours of driving,is it that you have to take a break when you reach six hours of other work and driving?.

The RTD(WTD) states that a driver must not work (driving+other work added together) more than 6 hours at any point in a shift without at least a 15 min break

Driving time breaks also count for RTD and vice versa but the rules for driving time breaks take preference

I understand WTD = Working Time Directive. What’s RTD??

RTD is the mobile workers rules on the WTD :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

What does the acronym stand for?

Ok thanks for that, what is the maximum daily duty you are allowed to work of driving and other work?.

There is not one listed in the regs for that BUT there is a law where X amount of daily rest must be taken within the 24 hour period from when a shift starts
