No, I’m afraid its not him vwvanman. The guy I’m thinking of was an amateur I beleive. I remember him being around in the early 1990’s taking lots of tipper pics. The last time I actually saw him was around 2001 when he called in to RL Noble’s yard in Cleckheaton, Bradford. Thanks for responding though. I’m still struggling to find him!
Is the man you look for called Stephen potter, he takes a lot of pictures round Derbyshire.
He was on flickr picture site, but you can now find him on stephenpotter.smugmug.com

Norman Tarling ? He’s been taking photos for years up that way.
Also there is Nigel Scaife who does a lot of tipper stuff.
Im sure i heard the Colin Wright sadly passed away last year and all his photos were sold off.

Apparently, it was October 2010 he passed on mate.
Just heard this and it’s like a kick to the knackers, rather sickening.
I had the pleasure of Colin’s company on a few occasions and he even entrusted me with a few of his albums so I could scan the photos. Mainly the Derbyshire area when Colin was passing through on his way South for his holidays.
I last saw him on the day my daughter was born (Aug. 2009) at Stepping Hill hospital - I took time out away from the wife to speak to Colin and hand a few of his albums back to him that I’d borrowed.
He was a lovely lovely bloke and I’m truly glad he had the foresight to take a great many pictures back in the late 70s and early 80s that would go on to become fascinating and nostalgic.
Just to let you all know that I am the one that you may be looking for!!!
Had a family problem that has kept me from taking as many photographs as I would have liked. The Land Rover 90s have gone, now in toyota RAV, at least now I can keep warmer, but only able to carry a smaller number of my photo albums with me.
Still have the beard and unruly hair and have recently restarted with the camera, but so many yards are locked up and a lot fewer trucks around at the weekends, the only time that I am able to get out, damned recession!!!
I have a lot to catch up on, having started in 1984 and want to add more to the collection, but as I have explained to Bonkey and CAT 4500, I still persist in using film and not qite ready for digital. When able, I intend to start putting some images on the Tarmac and A65 Skipton to Kendal sites.
I am based in Bradford and reasonably well known by drivers around the area for my interest, particularly if they operate tippers, mixers, anything with a Hiab, low loaders, earthmoving etc, definitely not curtainsiders or Eddie Sto…

Hi fella’s. I’m a recent new member on the site. Very impressed with the Forums. Some good stuff on here.
I’m wondering if anybody on here can help me in trying to track down a guy who used to take truck pictures (as a hobby I believe), around West Yorkshire.
He seemed to mostly take pics of tipper lorries and was a regular visitor to the sites and quarries I used to haul out of. He was a regular at the operator’s premises too, taking pics and logging them in his many many albums. I can’t recall his name, but I know that he always used to arrive at the premises in a Land Rover 90 and I’m pretty positive he was a Land Rover enthusiast too. For some reason, the name Paul sticks in my head, but I’m not positive this is right…all I recall is that he had a beard!! Not much to go on I know!!
I last saw him in RL Noble & Son’s yard in Cleckheaton, Bradford, around 10 years ago, so I know this is a long shot!!

I remember the guy you mean, came into Colin Booth’s yard in Epworth 1 saturday afternoon. Spent more time looking through his albums than working. He then went down the road to G E Curtis. Can’t for the life of me think of his name.
