Smith and Sons exceptionally clean workshop at Enslow.
The same wagon as in the previous picture. By this time it had been used as a dumper at Ardley stone pit. It’s cab was still there, years later up on a block of un excavated stone in use as a nesting box for wagtails.
“Enslow Supreme” with Pete James at the wheel. Pete’s retired from driving trucks now, but still does a bit of odd jobbing (bet he’d take offence at that, he takes offence at a lot less

Rumour’s he’s also Oxfordshires’ number one Alf Garnett tribute act.
Not sure why Earthline ran 4 or 5 MANs in Multi Agg livery, although I did hear drivers say it had something to do with O’ licensing at Shellingford. Quiet and comfortable but the auto 'box on this was awful. That tailboard operated by pulleys under the body could be troublesome too.
A and G Dix, Stanton Harcourt. Taken over by Ameys.

Also delivered cement quite often to the Ashton Keynes quarry. And to Wickwar if you count that as “Cotswolds”.
Ashton Keynes, the Bardon Aggs plant where they do Bradstone (North End)?
Hills had a landfill site just up the road from North End Works called Barnground, just before the crossroads between South Cerney and Shorncote quarry. I tip muck occasionally at Dryleaze, which is basically an extension of Shorncote.
Over at Kempsford was Multi Agg and Bardons (Manor Farm quarry). I used to get in Bardons for sharp sand when Smiths were low on stock.
Wickwar, I used to collect type 1 out of when work was quiet. I always liked a run down there from Gill Mill. If on it all day then I could make 2 loads a days’ work.
Probably the Bardon one, although it wasn’t Bardon in those days. The thing about Ashton Keynes was that the operator never cleaned the silo filters. He expected the incoming tanker driver to do it if he wanted to tip.
Our selected stone eight wheelers when I worked for Tilcon used to run to South Cerney from Ballidon quarry, perhaps to a concrete works? I never went there as I often carried tarmac of course so the body was contaminated. In the end those blue and red artics from Swindon (can’t recall the name) did it as a back load.
Pete.

Could well be Pete, a long time ago now, early 90’s. I think they brought scrap up and took limestone back?
