Pumptrucks

AlexWignall:
I had to pump on 33 pallets of boxed salt onto a garment trailer once (Friday afternoon too).

The first time I ever got blisters in twenty years, including roping and sheeting when I was an egg. You have my sympathy Muckaway, that job is going to make you or break you…

Well, 66 hours this week on job and “finish.”
Doing only my second nightout on Tuesday around Manchester; I wonder if I’ll hit the 70 hour marker?

:open_mouth:

As far as I know, on our pallets if a house delivery totals more than 1000kg then it’s split onto 2 pallets. I’ve delivered bird/pet food that supposedly weighed 800kg, yeah right! :unamused:

This morning I dragged one 200 yards uphill to a shop in York AND handballed it into the shop. I was sweating like a fat lass in a cake shop

Double post

Trukkertone:
there doesn’t seem to be a weight limit in black and white , but employers have a responsibility to ensure the well being of their staff, and carry out risk assessments, and take action where deemed neccessary… more info here… hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/l23.pdf

And as is always the case they know theres a problem but wont do anything about until theres a big accident then they give it the whole “you didnt follow the rules” ■■■■■■■■. But you dare turn round and say you need help because your struggling to push ton n a half pallets around and you can find yourself another job drive!

All people are different some are strong some are weak ,if you can move it with ease then fair play ,but if its a struggle then f it!!! Cos shiz u r thanks!!!  !!!

Some chap died google Gregory truck accident ,not positive but I think a pallet crushed a man.pump truck involved on a slope.

Dad sometimes gets a ton and a half of butternut squash, each pallet weighs at least 750kg, but there double stacked!

If it was the one I think it was the customer was standing behind the pallet to try and stop it rolling off the tail-lift. As a haulier/driver it’s a very difficult situation as it’s obviously going to be hard to order a customer about on their own premises if they elect to ‘help’.

No tail-lifts are great at stopping pallets rolling off the end. On column tail-lifts the flaps for roll cages are no good as there’s not space for the pallet with them up usually and cantilevers don’t have big enough flaps, if any, to stop a pallets. Even then there’s a good chance the pallet wrap would give way and most of it go over.

Muckaway:
My first drop this morning was 1800kg on 2x pallets, on a trading estate off the Old Kent Road. Pumptrucked the 600kg one across the road from the loading bay but couldn’t pull it up the slope in to the bakery because of the liberal dusting of flour on the smooth floor. One ■■■■■■ asked didn’t I think it was stupid to strip down the pallets and then restack them? I told him that I’ll remember that next time-the pallets will be left where I can pull them no further.
Just carried 800kgs of flour upstairs at another one, about time a doorstep delivery policy was implemented I think.

Oh for the flick and tip life of a tipper driver

I was thinking myself that shine has started to wear off the new job!

I’d love to write ‘crack on you’ll be right’ tbh that job sounds like a right ballache, just remember they won’t think any better of you if you left in a fortnight or twenty years later…

Try putting a super single wheel on Dharling!!!

Squse the french but you “truckers” make me want to puke

most bone idle useless pillocks I have ever seen.

The truth is you are an unskilled bunch of pillocks with a ■■■■■ fancy drivers licence with some fancy ideas that give you ideas above your bloody station.
you are labourers with a licence and I am some dik with a tool kit.

We are “fools and horses”
Born poor,work,then die poor,

I would rather have 2 tonne on a pallet and a pump truck rather than 40 cwt bags on a flat bed :stuck_out_tongue:
