Puddle jumper gets lucky

…and fools recruiting team into giving him a job!
Wages are good to great, hours are good with OT on offer, people are really friendly, location works for me. What’s not to love

Don’t forget your white gloves!

Really pleased for you mate.

John lewis are a fine company to work for. I do a fair amount of shopping there.

Hope it can turn from temporary to permanent for you.

Signed for these today.

Where are you working out of m8■■

State of it

P.S - Stevie, were the mirrors intact before you took it out? Looks like you had a little accident on your assessment.

Aaaaaand, I get two big fellas to help lug stuff around for the first two days, then I only get one

Cheers Sammy. That’s just a generic pic, mate. If I do damage it tends to be big damage [emoji33]

It’s a nice little truck expect to go down silly roads and ask if you have to go up stairs procedures for flats etc.

John Lewis was my first trucking job when I was 20. Not a bad job to be fair, bit of grafting to do and you learn how to do wet connections and tv setups, and it’s a 4 day week!

PM me if you want to ask anything about the job, tips and tricks etc…

Good luck to you

Nice one, all the origin park 7.5 tonners have the new livery now. Much better than the manky green lol!

Yep, nifty little ride  Smartly turned out, well maintained, clean and tidy. Nice gearbox too, 6 speed. A bit on the short legs side for gears, can toddle around town easily in third and fourth.

On the assessment they had us (4 on the assessment) carting a effin heavy washing machine up and down stairs in a mock up house they have on site, so I AM expecting stairs. It’s what the job is all about really, innit.
I think I heard a mention of three flights but not sure about that. £14.34 ph, gotta be a bit of graft there for that money.

Any info on limits you can reasonably be expected to hump stuff upstairs, HOP 2 IT?
And I’m def going to be asking some questions once I get started next week. Thanks

S.E.C. Yeah, they are smart. You sound knowledgeable, you work for em?
Funny, I’m already working out of Park Royal, was walking to me bus one evening to go home and saw a John Lewis 7.5 driving along, new black and white livery, just been washed, gleaming, it was. . I thought to meself “That looks like a tidy bit of kit, wouldn’t mind working for them”
Over the next couple of days I saw more and more of em. I was going to take a walk along to their depot and ask about work, it really is that close to where I’m working now.

Then got an E from Indeed with an ad for J.L. 7.5t at Park Royal!

I don’t believe in karma, fate, whatever and yet, here we are

You will not want to work for another company again trust me. Has anyone told you about the bonus u get? It’s a percentage of your annual salary based on the profit’s. You will get it in March. As for the job it is dead easy, you will be out with a driver’s mate. Sometimes 3 of ya so your not breaking your back. Some sites are now working 12 hour days but money reflects the work you put in.

Well, it’s agency to start off with, then I can either transfer over or stay with the agency. Both have pros and cons.
With the agency it’s still full time, 4 on 3 off, 11 hour shifts, ongoing, yes even after Xmas, work, but I can take a week, or a month, off whenever I want to if I give reasonable notice.
One of their drivers does all the hours god sends for 11 months then goes home to EE for a month, comes back and repeats, been doing that for 10 years apparently!
The wage is the same for both agency and JL.

If I switch over to JL then I would qualify as a Partner and get that lovely bonus! But I’m stuck with whatever the statutory holidays are these days.

On that assessment day I got talking to some blokeys in the (subsidised) canteen. Not one had a bad word to say about the company, the work, the planners, vehicles, maintenance, nothing. To a man they all said it was the best job they’d had.
I reckon they’d been planted there

So, agency for a while then re-assess
