Public Liability insurance for LTD

Hi,

According to board of insurers Public Liability insurance is not a legal requirement, they strongly advise to obtain cover, but I don’t really wish to go by what insurance companies say on the matter as they obviously benefit from everybody taking it out.

I am employed by my own LTD, where I am the only employee and the only shareholder, so no employer liability insurance is required, but what about Public Liability? I work through agencies at the moment, I don’t have any direct clients.

It seems to be a bit of a grey area, as some state you MUST have it, whereas insurance body state it’s not a requirement, but ought to be considered.

Any solid info on this?

I am not an owner driver, I get hired to drive haulier’s units.

Thanks!

I’d just make it clear to the people that are using you in your terms and conditions that you are working under there public liability as you have to conform to their policies.

I have public liability as I also run a van on sameday courier work
