Conversely Mars is further away from the Sun, so it gets less light and heat, and it’s atmosphere is about 100 times thinner than earth so it cannot retain heat as well. In fact it loses it’s heat so rapidly it’s been calculated that if you were on the martian equator at noon, the difference between the temperature at foot level and head level would be like summer versus winter.
