My PSA is 49, another blood test due next Monday. They look likely to start hormone therapy. So far i’ve been lucky, the only problem I have with it is nocturia (getting up during the night to pee)
Bloody hell gom , 14 seems nothing up to 49 , think mine started out at 8/9 & has been as high as low 20,s , kinda of stabilised round the 13 mark , I think the 15 + at doctors concerned them a bit , and I did tell him I wasn’t as good as I was , mostly ok , but odd day / night up for a pee a few times
At least there keeping a eye on us all
I’ve held on to what the consultant said to me when I asked him to remove my prostate. “No need, it won’t affect your natural lifespan”
I was told some while ago (I was/am on a ‘watch and wait’ plan), I was told “we usually let the PSA get to 50 before we do anything”
That’s what I’m on gom , watch & wait ( active surveillance) , didn’t know they’d let it go to 50 , urology nurse seemed concerned at 15 , though latest test is 14.1
I think the fact I’m not as good as I was also seems to corners his as I’ve been ok for years
At least there concerned , acting which is what you want
@GOM, the hot flushes on that hormone treatment wasn’t pleasant to say the least. I have a telephone number to ring urology if I feel something’s not right as I’m off the patience list. My next appointment with Christies oncologist is next March & that’s just a telephone appointment.
