Proof you'll still get caught in the end

I agree it is well over the top, criminal damage is all it is, how can it be arson ?

Er - because according to S1(3) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971 “An offence committed under this section by destroying or damaging property by fire shall be charged as arson.” i.e. by definition, Arson is ‘Criminal Damage by means of fire’.

I think he’s right to have been locked up, if you’ve got the mind set to go and burn a speed camera can you honestly say this person is safe in society? If he had burnt your car would you have a different take on it?

How do you ‘get’ from a burning roadside camera to ‘torching’ a car??

Ross.

see the guy got 9month jail sentance according to itv calendar news if you go on that tedious tossco strike thread and look for the itv thread theres a link there under the strike new

Lol, his neighbour got 12 month lol.

I still think this is a vast over reaction on the part of the authorities.

To be frank, if they had torched your car Saaamon, I suspect they would have got a very much reduced sentence, or even a suspended sentence. If it was me, (and I doubt it ever would be) I would be considering an appeal.

The real crime was in getting caught!

True, but also, there’s that many of them, you just stop noticing after a while. I don’t speed and have still been known to double check my speedo whilst hovering over the brake after just noticing 1 that I’ve been past 10,000 times.

There’s a lot going on on the roads and adjoining pavements, and sometimes the speed camera is just ignored because there’s that many and it poses no threat, unlike the drunks the other side of those parked cars, or the kid on the pushbike with a bent stabiliser etc.

I used to pass those cameras on the A15 on an almost daily basis and on more than one occasion almost commited the henious offence of exceeding 40mph in my dangerous juggernaut wagon only to brake just in the nick of time. In my opinion, these speed cameras do nothing for safety in realistic terms, they just make people drive eratically for the 50 meters before and after, at which point they carry on causing carnage in a truck by doing 50 or 56. Modern day ■■■■ Turpins. I’d happily see all of them burnt to a smoldering ruin baring those outside school gates and other such deserving places, the A15 near Hemswell not being such a place.
