My line in this situation is “Take your time pal, i’m paid by the hour so that’s fine by me”normally out an hour later
I do this one, usually works a treat. I do throw in a variant occasionally though if they are particularly mardy. I find " I need to be here at least an hour as I go onto time& half soon" also has the desired effect.
When I delivered to Greggs factory in Newcastle the store men unloading you used to write down the drivers reasons/excuses they needed to be tipped quickly. Some were hilarious.
My dogs died & getting buried this afternoon was a one I remember, they reckoned it was his 4th dead dog that year.
