Projects and restorations forum?

someone correct me if i’ve somehow missed it but there is’nt a forum or room or whatever you want to call it specifically for projects and restorations is there? i think it would be a good idea to have one, you know to share your work on whatever it maybe so its all in one place rather than lost in another bigger forum/room. i’d love to see what other people have been up to , whether it be tidy up what used to be the yard shunter ready for back on the road duty or a full blown resto on a vintage truck…
does anyone else share my thoughts here?

You recently wrote an excellent post about your current project sixaxles which received plenty of views and plenty of positive feedback, so why hide it away in an obscure corner of the forum?

Placed in this section will guarantee more views and comments than placed elsewhere imo.

when you say this section i take it you mean the uk professional drivers forum? i think you may have mis understood my goal here, i think there should be a specific forum for projects and restorations to make them easier to find, not just mine, but everybody’s, i’m keen to see what other people have been doing and i’m sure there are others that are to, your probably right, this part of the site is no doubt the most popular but because of that threads get lost very quickly in pages of other threads started about more or less anything - i’ll have a look for my thread in a minute, i would guess its about 4 pages back by now, so in a month it’ll be more or less lost… at this point can i just say this isnt about my little thread never being looked at again, its about finding other peoples project or restorations easily, another example, the owner driver forum/room hasnt had hardly any new threads started there in recent weeks because it is less popular, so past threads are easier to look at - and they all have something in common. so project and restoration forum would be a place for people to post up their work and people who like that kind of thing will know where to find it easily. also it could be helpful from a help point of view if someone was doing something to their truck that someone had done before and needed help, they could easily take a look how it was done by someone else - if you see what i’m saying?
i dont think it would be too hidden away as i’m sure if you scroll down when you first open the site the most recent active threads are listed - so it would be on that list? i might be wrong? i think all of that makes sense  more about grouping the threads together than owt else

Are there not forums for this thought of thing?

not on trucknet mate - hence this thread :stuck_out_tongue:

theres sum in the other forum though-- old time lorries

This would be a good idea, id like to see what people restore and how they go about finding parts and so on for vintage trucks, I bet it ain’t easy

I think it would be a good idea !

I think it would be interesting as well , I am sure alot of useful info could be sourced from the more sensible real world members of this forum.

Yeah I’m up for some of that.

nice one guys
yes it could serve as a source of info and help, would people only want see trucks? i did a mini resto on my car also, and i’m just about to finish my father in law’s trike - maybe of interest to? a lot of repair techniques can be used on all things mechanical, so what may have been done on car bodywork could also be applied to a truck cab (yes i know thats obvious lol)

great idea ! would love to see photos and words of some old lorries restored from start to finish.

this is of retro rides, retrorides.proboards.com/index.c … read=84662

also another good read is this, retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=othrmod

Good links there I will have a better butchers later thanks.

That old bedford took me back some years, and i also think it would be an ideal truck to use for wrecking speed cameras, what with the hole in the roof…ha ha

kind of tackled the first one - 32 pages is a lot to chew through lol… cheated a bit and missed some out :open_mouth:
but still an enjoyable read none the less
i’ll make a start on the second one in a mo when i get on a bay

Would be a good idea , having restored several moters it would also help with sourceing parts ect, because you always end up with parts you need or at times excess bits that would be of help to others. I know ive loads of bits ive acquired over the years that ill never use but somebody is probably crying out for .

Spend hours on pistonheads looking through the restorations some folks on there do,find it really interesting

I often wonder with these resto blogs/forum threads how much quicker there’d get done if they cracked on with the resto in the time spent blogging about it.

Glad they do though as I often like a read.
