Anyone else had problems with ESDAL this week ■■
have no reason to use it
No issues, whats up?
No cos I’m not back until tomorrow great system usually and very little downtime, few glitches but they are always helpful on the help desk
Notified two separate jobs Esdal reported a back log at the time.Spoke to the various police authorities regarding permits reference numbers etc and nobody had received notifications from Esdal.I had submitted in good time 3/4 days in advance.
2 of the Police authorities asked I submit by good old fashioned fax as Esdal was struggling. What I find worrying is that Esdal had informed me the notifications had been sent.
Not used it for a year or three since they upgraded it, and in my view spoiled it by making it over complicated.
I only run at C&U axle weights, and find a lot easier to attach an order to a group email sent to forces on the route, except good old West Yorks and London Met who still insist on faxed notifications

Been informed by the Met as from 01.01.13 they will only accept ESDAL
When I experienced the problems using ESDAL was then told its ok just send a fax !!!

Classic case of too many cooks spoil the broth theres about half a dozen Ab Load officers at the Met, and from experience one doesn’t know what the others are doing

Generally what we do too, Joe. We actually had a reply from Hampshire the other week with a route change due to roadworks First one in as long as we could remember
Amazing when last year they failed to notify us of a road closure which highly unimpressed me when I came upon it at 2am
We use esdal for London when we have to go there, which we try our best to avoid
iirc West Yorks do email now too.
They must of traded a couple of flat caps and a whippet for an old zx spectrum

been into Cornwall today to a place just outside Launceston, I sent a notification with a route through the town back to the A30. The response?, ‘‘Nein Nien Nien’’ and a route planned for me consisting of an extra 30 miles and an extra hour on the run heading up north then across to Holsworthy, up hill down dale through god knows how many small villages, across numerous single file bridges, blind narrow bends and three sets of roadwork gangs repairing potholes
but they know better
When I eventually got back to the A30 I was really ready for a brew
