Everytime we transit swiss we have problems regarding the weight of our vehicles, We mainly carry light loads and all
our vehicles are plated at 34 ton, but the Swiss keep stopping them and saying this is not possible etc etc, We keep telling
them that it is possible in GB and we could run at 28 ton, We think it’s all down to the lower tolls being charged, where can we
get and/or email, information to stop this happening every trip.
I used to have this problem when I ran Swiss with an artic plated at 31 tonnes. Get in touch with the office which administers the tax, which is in Bern as far as I can recall and they will sort it for you.
Barcelona_Karl had the same problem, as mentioned in this thread, he might be able to give you more up to date advice if you PM him. In that thread you will notice I sent the email address of the person who sorted it for me to Karl, I’ve just checked and no longer have the email address unfortunately.
I have found an old PM from Karl in which he told me how he sorted it. He asked to see the boss at the St Louis border one day and the boss grasped the fact he was plated at 28 tonnes. He then gave Karl a document all stamped and signed explaining the situation which he was able to produce each time the weight was questioned.

Our wagons are all plated at 38t, even though they they are 3 axle wagons and 3 axle trailers.
We get pulled up for it fairly frequently, although not every trip.
That link is all well and good Pete, it explains how the toll is calculated, what it’s for etc etc.
It doesn’t explain how to prevent what can be quite a bit of time being wasted, on a regular basis, while the Swiss customs officials RE-scrutinise your vehicle documentation before deciding that you are correctly registered after all.
There is the e-mail address for Berne, on page 23 of that .pdf.

(Steuern + Abgaben) which you could have copied just as easily as I just did, and given that link as the source. But all the rest of the stuff on there is of no help to JJ or me.
I presented all of my vehicle documents, when it was new, to Swiss Customs at the St Louis / Basel border for it to be registered into their system and for them to issue me with the orange card. This was done correctly, with my wagon registered at 38t, for which I pay the 38t rate of tax. I am, however, RE-scrutinised fairly often because I drive a 6 axle artic which the border official wants to check is correctly registered at 38t. They expect it to be registered as 40t. Each time I am allowed to go freely. But each time this happens I can loose 10 to 30 minutes or more. It’s a pain in the neck.
I imagine that JJ is having exactly the same problem.
