Probably cant answer this can you

My personal developement program

a bit flowery for a drivers forum mate  generally speaking ā€œmy planā€ would suffice

raymundo:
err yea ok, ( I think ) but what do you actually do … ?

I can’t figure it out either, but I’m willing to take a punt that it involves Bibles and fish symbols on the back of cars.

Just my opinion but… Loyalty does not pay the bills

As a few on here know the past 10 months ive been working for a firm whom full time pay ā– ā– ā– ā–  rates! When i was on agency doing the same hours was pulling in shy of Ā£200 more a week. I was told by one of the planners that they didn’t want to lose any more drivers. When i said bump up the rates. ā€˜times are hard’ was the response. Needless to say, this week is my last week of doing those stupid 70 80 hour weeks for the same pay i was getting working down the road doing 55/60 hours a week with a couple nights out chucked in. My new job will be around 55/60 hours no nights out for the same money and when i get my class 1 I’ve a truck there. And when i put my notice in ā€˜youll be back next week when the work dries up’ needless to say that wont be happening.

Id say try it, but make sure youve something to go too as your bluff maybe called which can do you in the long run!
Cheers

Jonny.you have quit more jobs than muck away.

Firstly you couldn’t pay me enough to do multi drop, three in a shift on class 1 is enough for me. This might seem a bit simplistic but have you asked for a pay rise? You won’t find out where you stand until you do, and it will nag at you regardless of any suggestions, good & bad, on here. It usually works for me.

Ask for a pay rise the proper way rather than putting them over a barrel then if they don’t give you a pay rise just find another job and actually leave not just threaten too . Calling there bluff will earn you no respect

Snarley:
Am I being an [zb], or should I push them for a proper wage due to driver shortage, and believe me there is one here.

Don’t kid yourself drive there’s no shortage, if you leave they’ll just replace you with agency bods earning more money:lol:

I know what you mean a bit scared of changing jobs, currently I’m a bus driver for Arriva Ā£11.15ph & there sorting a pay increase but won’t be much more, for years I’ve talked of getting heavy goods licence, but get in a rut & a steady (safe) job done it for 15 yrs same company, I keep trying to talk myself out of paying around 2k to get to class 1 but after I paid a couple of bills off in a few wks gonna bite the bullet, I’m aware I will probably be on less hourly pay but don’t want drive a bus anymore its got to be a lorry.

Seek,and ye shall find.
