I’m planning a trip to Barcelona from either Santander or Bilbao with an old showmans caravan and ex unit ballast tractor all registered as private hgv ,could anyone tell me if the exemptions that are accepted in UK are valid in Spain? this outfit is slower than the norm could anyone advise a safe and sensible route ? any toll route to encounter ? has anybody had any experiences with the authorities with 50’s classic outfits such as these as they do tend to stand out ?

All I can help you with is that if its legal to drive in the UK, its legal to drive here. There was a bit of a problem a while ago in my area with a Brit who drove a Spartan armoured personnel carrier on the roads because the guardia (military wing of the civil police) didn´t understant what a member of the public was doing with a “tank” on the roads, but it got sorted out eventually and was never confiscated.
