That Yamaha FJR ( Fast journey and ride) was absolutely immaculate, for a 09 plate, it looked like a brand new motorcycle.
I would say it’s in the garage in the winter and comes out in fairer weather conditions, the same for the Honda and the Kawasaki 500.
A bit like me, these days.
Plenty of miles left on the clock.
I think they sim up what my mate said , motorcycles were cheap transport , now a expensive hobby
In the old days they get used all year around , all weathers , rain , snow etc etc , I’d finish work on a Fri morning the ride from Bristol to the e. Midlands whatever the weather , all year round
Now in 4 months my most recent bike has not seen a spot of rain , these bikes look like they get similar use
Lovely bikes though
This is what I mean , my brand new Kawasaki kh250 was filthy within days , zx4 rr after apx 4 months looks like it’s just left the showroom , though to be fair I’ve done 1,800 miles on it , but any mention of rain/ wet roads and it stays in the garage
Those bikes in pictures look like garage queens , though I maybe wrong , and the just get cleaned a lot .
Longest run I’ve done , 150 mile round trip , lovely day , but it took me a week to recover , back , bum , arms were done , fun bike but torture for me anything over about 50 miles
I knew you would like the photos Dozy, the longest ride I did was as all the way to Amsterdam and back on a Kenny Robert’s replica Yamaha RZ 350 YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System) it was branded as LC ( Liquid Cooled).
Two stroke engine.
Lovely Stuar , not normally a yellow person but do like the Yamahas in yellow with the black blocks , were they factory colours ?
I love 2 strokes , kh250 / kh400 etc
Yes I love any kind of bikes , but especially sports bikes , but this will be my last one ( gutted ) , body just won’t take it anymore
To be honest I didn’t really like the yellow colour but I still bought it in Florida then shipped it over in a wooden crate from Port Everglades, the shipping company/freight forwarder ripped me off as the weight of the crate did not correlate to the weight I paid for in Florida, someone had added more weight to the crate so I must have paid for someone else’s freight to get over to Tilbury docks.
I had to ring CID to get it inspected before I collected the motorcycle just in case there was anything illegal in the crate.
No I’m not a yellow fan , wife wanted me to buy a yellow speed triple , lovely bike & I felt comfortable , but just couldn’t get passed the yellow
Mrs did say if you get on with it ok I’ll pay for it to be sprayed , but never brought it in the end
You were lucky with shipping you never know what someone would put it in these days
I was very fortunate about the shipping fiasco,a few days later a police car arrived at home with a CID officer, and a police motorcycle rider as they were going to take the bike away, the paperwork and import documentation was all in good order so I kept the bike, it certainly got a lot of attention with the Florida number plate on for a while, enough to impress a very good looking lass who worked in a petroleum station as we got chatting, she later met a Maltese fella and had kids with him, I should have made my moves much earlier.
I still think the VF750F is a blood y good-looking bike and they were pretty quick too. Pity about the top-end woes but the upside is Honda went OTT and made the VFR750 (like wot I’ve got). I still want a Yam FJ1100/ 1200 for some reason. And a Tamburini-era Ducati. Oh and a GPz900R. An RD400 would be nice too and while I’m on the subject, a 400/4…
I paid £8600 for mine & with interest abt £10,000, £95 pm x36 with a final payment of £5090 ( I was vt ing , but was suprised to see the settlement figure is now £6100 ( I’ve paid apx £100 pm extra .
So I’m thinking I might trade it in and get a bike I can use all the time ( no pcp mileage limit ) & more comfortable .
