Primaddonna agency drivers

Rang an agency for work earlier.

Will you get out of bed for less than £30ph they said,
Yes I will.

Will you drive a day cab shopping trolley?
Yes I will.

Will you drive a lorry with no air con or radio?
Yes I will.

Sorry driver, you’re no good to us!

Was it ADR?

ADR = ■■■■■■■■ driver retards

Network! They don’t pay for assessments once passed as they claimed when I was asked to go to Iceland in Enfield! “We only pay for successful assessments at Tesco” Lying Barstewards! :smiling_imp:

They’re all ■■■■■■■■■ des. If I found myself out of work I would go back to coltons. I wouldn’t give an agency the time of day

Coltons!! The last resort!!
I tried for Iceland when I was at The Green Death! But I won’t work for liars! I was led to believe I would be paid if successful and I passed the thing and then they came out with the get out! So I got out and parted with “I’ll go in on their next recruitment drive direct” So send in the Lithuanian who got banned for life the same morning!

This was just before the AWR regs were due to start! Don’t remember when that was by the way! All I’ll say is the pay working DHL is well in excess of what ADR are paying! If those fellas/ladies working there had not gone down the Swedish derogation route they would have either been out on their ear or on a few quid more an hour under AWR! :open_mouth:

I’ve got a couple of mates who work there, but they’ve been there since it opened around 99/00. They don’t do Sundays but I understand new starters have to. I don’t want weekends as my kids are both in primary school. Once they’re teenagers and spending weekends with dad is so uncool, I probably won’t mind doing weekends. But I’d only go on sainsburys at rye park. Not a bad job on there, plus I would’ve had 20 years on the road by then, so will be ready for the trollies

What’s up with were you are Now.
Thought you were on for maritime.

Sent from my iPad.

Nothing mate. Very happy. My op was a bit tongue in cheek in response to some of the crap posted on here

It’s firms like ADR that give other agencies a bad name.
I’ve been through a few other agencies by this point, and the reputation of “lying barstewards” does indeed seem to apply to many of them - but not all.
I pulled the plug having signed up with them because I turned up for the assessment only to have the assessor not bother to show and ADR not bother to inform me, even at the last minute! I asked for 5 hours pay, and was offered an unpaid assessment at Iceland, Enfield “to make up for it” instead. I walked away.
As I was leaving, I was told it would be £50 to do it. After deductions, that wouldn’t be worth it. Without deductions it wouldn’t be legal. Would you put your digicard into a vehicle of a client firm who’ve not registered you as being present for insurance purposes, because you’re not on the payroll yet?

Even with other agencies, I always ask for an email confirm for each and every new client. Quite often, that confirm will never come, but a “cancellation” will come instead - a bit strange when you have a mate at said clients place, and they can’t get enough bods in!

Of course, they cancelled, because I’d asked for the hourly rate T&C’s for that particular client in writing.

“Hey bud, gotta 10 hour shift for you, double time after 10 hours upto £16 per hour” is going to turn out being "minimum 5 hours only paid, £8 for first 10 hours, double time after that, but you’ll be done in 9.5 hours every day so they’ll never actually BE any overtime.

All I ask is a straight walk down the line of fair and square, and I’m sure everyone else out there driving does too.

It depends what you want from a job. One mans meat and all that

I worked for ADR when they first started at St Albans, must have been around 98-99 and they were ok. Kept me with plenty of work, decent rates.

I worked mainly at Salvesons at Elstree on frozen, occasionally at NFT London Colney (and Elstree ambient when they took it over). NFT were nowhere near as good as Salvesons though.
Merc Powerliner 2’s with EPS…fantastic! Drove some of the first Actros’ there as well.

I’ve had even better… “Are you ok driving a rigid?” - erm, yeah… Why wouldn’t I be?? “some C+E drivers won’t drive rigids!” ■■? :unamused:

I’ve had even better… “Are you ok driving a rigid?” - erm, yeah… Why wouldn’t I be?? “some C+E drivers won’t drive rigids!”

The question was really “We promised you £11ph for C+E, but alas there’s never going to be any. How about this £8ph always available 17t work instead?” :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

On the agencies I’m on, I’m on a rate no matter what the job or vehicle. Some easy, some hard, but always the same rate, so C+E rate for driving a van last week, and C+E rate for driving an artic today.
