That’s what I said earlier, everyone pays a different price and they will change companies or routes over a few pence if they ship a lot of vehicles like Transalliance did

Ferries from Ancona to Patras range in price from £700 - £1300 depending on what day you ship…

This never used to happen in the 90’s

a few of us have just been.
tolls each way, from patras, across to athens, (junction 10) worked out approx 33 euros each way, which had to be payed in euros.
port tax going out from italy was approx 35 euros, but coming back via patras, it was in euros, 51.12
i think, (not sure) ferry back from patras, to ancona, approx 620 euros, for an artic, but we did have a fair few, so may have got a cheaper rate.

Don’t know these days but around the turn of the century the standard procedure for all Italy to Greece ferries was to book with Viamare Travel in London.

I’m going to have a guess here and say the going rate for southern UK to Athens is about £4200. For fridges it was always standard procedure to go back to Italy to load home.

We used to book direct with Frag Line in Brindisi and pay cash when we arrived in the port. I didn’t do too many, the cash came in more handy to go overland

£4200 in 2011.

£3200 in 1990

Those tolls and taxes have changed big time!! I haven’t been down there for about 7 years and then there were no road taxes in Greece (twas the year before they held the Olympics). The port taxes have certainly gone up in that time.

I just had a phone call from Greece tonight. I have been sent some pictures to add to this thread, nothing we haven’t seen before, but a bit of nice weather.

Cheers wheelnut, thats more than enough to get my feet itching again!!
