Price of Fuel

Just as a matter of interest I was playing about with the figures for fuel consumption and costs of doing our nightly trunk. Nothing unexpected there, but when I increased the price of fuel by 10p a litre (roughly what it has gone up in the last year or so) I realised that the increased cost of running our two night trunks and a day trunk was more than £20K per year :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
That doesn’t include the other 7 or 8 rigids that do the deliveries. We are a small company running 11 lories and 4 vans; how much it costs a large company I dread to think.
Maybe if Joe Public was aware of these sort of figures we would get more sympathy (ducks to avoid falling pig ■■■■!)

amazing figures when you think about it. how small company,s can stand them kind of increases is beyond me.
even more amazing , is the fact firms just get on with it,without so much as a whimper.
until now PERHAPS …

yeah, but who has put up the prices not the goverment but oil companys that have made billions of profit this year alone.by the way oil prices fell this week on the spot market, have the oil companys dropped the price NO.

This is true but for every 20p the oil companies earn from fuel the government earns 80p

If the oil co’s then make £billion pounds profit how much has the government earned bearing in mind they dont have any costs involved before making a profit as the oil co’s do

I know the oil companies are making big profits, but the vast majority cost of a litre of fuel is government duty, i think both the government and oil companies need to play a part in reducing fuel prices. This has nothing to do with the situation in the middle east, look how low the prices are in europe (belgium and lux are prime examples of how we are being ripped off). I remember hearing once that the price of a litre in Turkey was something like 20p, i dont know how accurate that is these days.

Look at the US, they pay nothing like we pay and they are further away from the middle east than almost anyone, so it cant be anything do with extra tranportation costs.

Lets face it people, we are being ripped off, taken for a ride, whatever you want to call it, and we are just sitting here and accepting it. We deserve everything we get.
