PRICE OF DERV

scotstrucker:
i cant even repeat what my boss said about his fuel prices this week as all he did was swear n slam the office door

My sentiments exactly; budgeting the first half of the next financial year I have used £1.05ppl as that is where I am being told we will be… :imp: … and I use 50k litres a week!!

Out and about on my travels this week it’s regular to see 111.9ltr at the supermarkets - that’s 95.23ltr ex vat!

Too many people talk but dont have any action… We should be more like the French fishermen.

biggest problem the haulage industry has is they wont stick together because they dont trust each other, each one of them is scared the next one will steal there work so they wont park up for the week in protest, all the big players wont come out as they would be commiting commercial suicide because of there contracts which if they didnt service would lead to them being dragged through the court, all the o/d’s wont come out as they cant afford too the list could go on, the only way to make action work is by getting the public en mass to boycott buying fuel which will never ever happen

well it wont come down any less, thats for sure, and it will further increase on the 1st april by 2.5 p, no matter what oil companies are charging.

gonna be yet another tough yr.

Reckon most O/Ds will jack in , inc my brother.

Can we not import the cheaper fuel from Europe and avoid paying the ridiculous prices?

Probrably just a day-dream but if only the big players could send a few tankers across the water fill em up with cheap derv and bring em back thus bycotting the British fuel tax then maybe just maybe the price would go down

I’ll go back to lala land now

lots of firms are introducing fuel escalators again to try and offset the hikes but customers wont pay it without a fight unless its written in the contract or told before they agree the job, its a tough old world out there and it only gonna get tougher

heres a link to a website stating all the fuel prices in europe, i presume itbe pump price drive-alive.co.uk/fuel_prices_europe.html it was last updated in early feb 2010 and france was charging more for derv than the uk

We’ve been doing that between NI and “The south” for maybe 20+ years or more!!! :open_mouth:
You will VERY rarely see an artic truck(quite a few 8 wheelers too) operating in NI without having 700L+ diesel tanks hanging on the side of her to be able to fill up “on the cheap” across the border every Fri/Sun Afternoon or Sat Morn. :sunglasses:
Even the big boys like Montgomery/McBurney/Mulgrew are all at it.

got told today that one one the services on the m6 is selling it for 1.27

my local garage is 1.18 ltr for derv and 1.15 for petrol

FFS when will it end, heres my quotes ths week BWOC 101.11ppl Shell card 102.68ppl. Dieselextradearlink was over 1.05ppl, its becoming utter madness & I can hear them bleating how its because of BP’s disaster in The Gulf of Mexico already, what have you lot been quoted this week ?

I’ve got 101.35 from Smartdiesel,102.97 from Red and 105.06 Shell :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

just to get an idea of which fuel card is giving the best deals when posting the ppl why dont you give a rough idea of how many litres you are buying aswell

I usually buy 400lts each fill, I was using cards supplied by Dieselink the pump price has been £1.19.9 both of them Shell Haydock & Barnsdale Bar sites now the bill has come through Dieselink have charged me over £1.05ppl less the VAT I’d have been better using a bank card & getting the points as they’ve stopped giving them on my Shell card now. Dieselink are charging £1 for an invoice too so thats the end of me using them lot in the future.
