Why dont you ask them at your interview/induction/asses.assessment/key chucking…?

Have seen them on services etc. Try ringing them and ask the question. If it’s a deal breaker saves going for the interview.

When you go for the interview, and they say “any questions” there’s your chance to ask, if they say NO, it’s either get up walk out, or say “O I’m being employed as a day man”

Ignore the idiots op poster , makes much more sense to find the sp out on a job beforehand , rather than waste there’s & your time , can’t help you with the answer you require , but hopefully some one will

Around 5 years ago they didn’t. It was the old school mentality that your night out money is to pay for parking and a meal. If you want to save it, get in a layby.

They were behind the times, so I hope they’ve changed it since then. I can’t remember whether they used Snap or not. I seem to think they didn’t, but could be wrong now.

I can’t remember ever seeing a Prestons in a truck stop or MSA. Ever. Always laybys.

They were behind the times with pay, but really good to work for. (Possibly not the best for a new driver, as it was a case of “Here’s your day’s work, son. Ring us when you’re done!..”)

A great deal…

Of PoPs work is steel girders and trusses, loaded in order for easy tipping on-site. Because of that, they frequently night out on-site or very close to it. Sometimes that means being coned off in city streets overnight ready for an early tip etc.

I drove nights for them out of Knottingley and that was, as far as I’m aware, was almost all trunk work.

Also make sure that if they do they also do it the right way, and you dont have bundles of cash to pay for it and claim after. A mate of mine had the issue, he started a new job, got most of the answers he wanted except the nights out, but as he was a bit desperate for a job, took the job, first week he ended up paying over £100 for parking, on friday he asked for his cash back and was told…didnt they tell you at interview…its paid back monthly the same as wages, poor sod ha ha
so it seemed he would have to spend in the region of £400 of his own money, parking their truck, and waiting a month to get it back, yeah right!!
Years ago we got our night out money up front…and cash for fuel we may need.
This then changed to a float, and exchanged the receipts for a top up or renew the float, and this worked well.
Today many have a card for parking and for fuel, but a few still work the old system like his, but they did loan drivers money to survive, i too worked for companies who never paid up front, and the truck ends up in a layby or ind estate.

The rules have…

Never changed. They must give you cash up front ie; if you’re going for 3 nights they have to give you 3 nights out money in advance. It follows they should also give you the parking money in cash too.

You stand a better chance of survival in a forest fire wearing petrol soaked trousers than getting cash up front these days.

Serves him right, £100 quid parking costs in a week? Urine extractor.

No wonder companies don’t want to pay parking because that’s what they get in return.

4 times £25?
Where was he?
Any free parking and how long driving, how much diesel to get there?
Was he loaded with rubbish or valuable goods?
Had he a container, box, fridge, or tautliner?

£25 would be parking in services, never worked for anyone who would pay back that robbery, quite rightly too, probably more theft happens at services than anywhere else.

One night a week, understandable, every night? Ripping the hole clean out it.
