…is here, at last. Opened yesterday (20.9.2010), there is now a proper motorway link between D5 (from Germany and Plzen) and D1 (for Brno and Slovakia), going around Prague. So you no longer have to waste your time and energy on the dreaded “southern connection” (Barrandov bridge and thereabouts).
Bad news is, the dreaded southern connection is now signposted “no vehicles >12t” - so when delivering to some parts of Prague, or going from D5 to D11 (for Hradec Kralove) you’ll have to drive few kms more… Or risk 2000CZK fine (~70£)
Oh, and yes, the new bypass is tolled…
To illustrate what I’m talking about:

Not 100% up to date, but the new bypass is the black, red and green double line south of Prague between D and D1, the southern connection (used until now) is the green and black further north (between D5 and D1).
Otherwise, green = planned, red = under construction.
