Quick question, what PPE equipment would you expect your company to provide, on the basis of not doing no ADR work?

yes. or at least the money to buy it.
hi viz, boots, and any outher equipment that your specific job entails.
Our firm won’t buy a driver any boots until he has been there 3 months, after this he must prove that the boots he is wearing are unfit for purpose.
The also asked me to sign for a pair of gloves the other day, and return my old pair.
I pointed out that I have never been given any gloves, and proceeded to tell the planner where he could stick his gloves…
Depends on the work you do, bulk tipping probably needs more than curtainsider work
Im on bulk work and we get issued with…
Boots…Riggers or lace ups depending on personal preference, replaced when necesary (I do a lot of farm work and cowpoo tends to rot the stitching after a while).
Gloves…both rubber for fuelling and rigger gloves for general (just have to ask for a new pair when needed)
Hardhat
Safety goggles
Hi-viz waistcoat, and waterproofs
Woolly hat with company logo for cold weather.
Dont think theres anything else I would need for my type of work

It would depend on the job but I would say as a bare minimum they should provide safety boots, hi vis vest and suitable gloves. On top of that there may be more if the job requires it including (but not limited to) hard hat, hi vis trousers and eye protection.

Seems wrong to me. My take on it is that they MUST supply all relevant PPE to the kind of work you are doing from day 1. How can they hold back on supplying safety boots for 3 months■■? Are no accidents going to happen in your first 3 months employment?
Were on farm collections (so covered in chicken crap everytime we load) and were issued with…
Polo shirts x 5
Jumpers x3
Trousers x3
Hi viz vests x2
Long Hi viz coat
Bomber style drivers jacket (not hi viz)
Doc martins style laced boots (replaced when knackered…3 pairs last year)
Rigger boots
Dunlop steel toe cap wellies (for lorry wash)
Heavy duty gloves
and some of our drivers moan that they can only get a new long hi viz coat every 3 months!!
I provide my own it seems! Nearly 8 weeks in and only issued one pair of combat trousers!! Order placed on the day of interview!
Sorry, forgot to say, container work!

Problem with that is you go MANY places.
When I was on boxes, PPE I’d carry:
Steelies (both boots and trainers - but I’m more comfortable in trainers, but some places require ankle protection)
Gloves
Hard Hat (required at some ports and most steel places plus some chemical places - even none adr)
Goggles
Ear defenders
Hi vis jacket and trousers
For none-adr, that’s pretty much it I think, and half of it is still in its wrappers with whoever stole it
Only did a few weeks on tippers, but the only piece of PPE I’d really be bothered about was being issued with those disposable dust masks for when you have to get in the back and sweep the bloody thing out.
Was given a respirator when working on grain haulage in Canada, was useful when you had to enter a near empty silo and shovel on a windy day.
it is law that your company supplies you with all ppe to do the job. end of.
if they wont supply them , then just tell them the health & safety executive will be notified.
and make sure you do.
