Potential young driver questions

Hi,
I’m 19 years old living in Grimsby and currently looking for potential careers. My dad was a truck driver and i’ve always been interested in it. So ive been looking at getting a class c licence (and possible c+e further down the road when funds allow). I understand alot of companies won’t take on young drivers due to their insurance, but wanted to get an idea if any companies around my area do? Also looking for any good training places/where to stay away from. Thanks

Lots of places up at Immingham that would take you on. My old place are always looking for drivers. The pay was shocking but the work is easy and its experience.

Check out the link in my signature below - get big mug of coffee first

When I was at Culina they were never scared to take young uns on and a 19 yr old female I think was the youngest.

Pretty sure most pallet network members would take drivers as young as you. They always seem to be recruiting and I know my firm isn’t shy of giving young ones a shot (although last part is of no help to you). Try the pallet networks [emoji846]

Yay, another young’un like myself!

Culina definitely take on young drivers - one of my mates started with them when he was 19, and he’s 21 now. I’ve heard that they’re looking for drivers in various places so I’d say they’d be a good bet.

Failing that, I’d recommend phoning folk local companies up, and getting advice from local driving instructors. If they’re anything like mine were they’ll know a bit about the local industry and’ll clue you in on who takes young drivers on.

Don’t be surprised if it takes a while - Whilst the guy I mentioned earlier was lucky (got a job 2 days after passing his class 1, in february I might add), it took my other pal 2 months until he landed his first gig, and It’s been 11 weeks from me passing my class 1 to me getting my first job (which has only happened today!).

I reckon theres definitely work out there if you look hard enough. Crack on drive!
