Yeah but he’ll have to join the queue for the steak dinner

At this rate I won’t even get started, was hoping to go back to summer months doing truck driving but still need 21 hours cpc and hoped to have them done by the end of April, but the place I’ve been going to has postponed all his courses for the foreseeable.
Currently driving a taxi and that has died a death, gonna be a case of survival of the fittest in both industries.
Right, they’ve given me some 7.5t runs (at a much lower rate) so it’s ok-ish for now…Let’s hope I can find some stocked shelves at the stores to refill my Brexit chest which I plundered during a week of laziness when I cba’rsed to go shopping
Or I need to find an old man face mask ala Johnny Knoxville so I can get in early in the morning

Please don’t spend half your day telling everybody you “normally drive class 1”

Yeah but it’s an unwritten rule, surely? Even if its unintended. Even I did it a few Saturdays back when it was just easier to nip chuck 10 pallets on a rigid and run them ten minutes up the road. I dont even know how it came about, I just found the words “yeah I’m normally in an artic” falling out of my mouth
bald bloke:
Never knew that about the holidays !! I have 3 days off over next weekend which gives me 9 days off so when I’m back in next I’ll enquire about that as if and when this blows over I’m having some holidays !!
Might just be a depot thing but there has been a notice on the board for a week now. still got 4 days lieu booked for end of next week but keeping that, can only grab so much and need a few days off, I’m shattered.
Update on my case…my daughters husband who is a driver for a unionised and own account outfit has also been told to take 2 weeks off…with pay.
Little girl is fine btw, her big sister, and in fact nobody else is showing any symptoms whatsoever.
Well they wouldn’t would they, she had a mild kids cough, but the over cautious mass hysteria takes precedence.

I may have to phone the office and request an armed ■■■■■■ and danger money, because when i opened the curtains I’ve discovered a pallet of Andrex on the back

I do the opposite. If I’ve done a particularly outstanding reverse (rare), and it gets congratulated (rarer), I say “I normally drive 7.5 tonners”

Sounds similar to an older actress being interviewed,
“I always lie about my age, darling. I add on 7years.
When people exclaim how young I look, it always makes me feel good!”
.
I’ve started doing the same, and adding ten years on.
No-one has passed comment yet.

That’ll be because at your age ten years doesn’t make a great deal of difference

Try going into a store early in the morning and tell them you’re over 70.

I don’t know what would be more painful: being let in, or being turned away

I work at Birmingham Airport loading bars, food & duty free onto the planes & was pretty much told last night that if I have another job to go to…Take it!
As I was loading the truck in the early hours of this morning I had to take off 2 RyanAir bars & a Tui bar as both flights had been cancelled.
I only ended up loading a couple of Jet 2 planes & both of those were repatriation flights going out empty of passengers.
I’m luckier than some as I have 2 shifts holiday now to find something else(as long as the company doesn’t fold & can still honour the holiday pay).
I hope that everyone affected can weather the storm!
I work at Newcastle airport, and the downturn in aviation is brutal. Airlines have no other option than to park up 75% of their fleets. Booking are down by that number. Their incomes are down, so practically every airline in Europe is getting it’s employees to take unpaid leave. Some for a month, and some, like easyJet for 3 months. The hope is a positive trend gets going by June, bookings increase, aircraft start flying again, and so do the people.
Some airports are partially closing, and some are rumoured to shut up shop altogether while this passes. I know a lot of handling staff at airports who are hanging onto the brink of redundancy. In typical fashion, the management say very little and let employees stay in the lurch. And when they do it’s classic management talk. Such as “we are monitoring the situation closely, and will keep you updated in due course”. But I did hear that an airport staff member was told off the record that he should probably be applying for other jobs.
Until last Sunday I worked for an events company.
Monday morning they shut the doors and laid off all 50+ staff.
Said he has no idea how long for or if they will ever open again.
Shame it was a cushy job.
At least the agencies are busy for now
