Posed on CPC

A school bus driver on CPC works a split shift Monday to Friday, except school holidays.
Starts 7:30, finishes 8:30 each day.
Starts again 3:30, finishes 4:30, Monday Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday and Friday starts 2:50, finishes 3:50.
The driving time is 1 hour 30 minutes split each day.
What days and hours can be worked to maximise agency work outside of the school runs.

That is the sort of hours that I work. Sadly you need 45 hours off fortnightly. I was in a spot of bother with the nice Ministry man over this. I said ,am I really going to tell my wife that I have been over working when I was doing about 20 hours per week and she was doing 30 hours work . I had to miss a few school days over that. I do some wedding work and bowling clubs at weekends but no long shifts, rules are rules though.

That is what I know as a spread over shift, PCV rules are different to LGV, I used to be able to work a 13 day fortnight when I was a nipper driving the Buses at Tottenham Garage, you can legally do 7 shifts on a trot, ie start at 16:00 finish at 01:30 am from Thursday to the following Wednesday then have a long weekend ie T/F/S/S, you could take off the Thursday and start at 04:00 on the Friday, and work to the following weekend etc.

That was on Domestic rules and duty card not working to a tacho as per a truck.

UK domestic rules are different. Theoretically you could work 365 days a year on domestic.
