Major repairs and modernization to the bridge which will start in September.How do you get to the continental ferry port, is there a diversion route ?
I could not see one on the websites .
New one on me Toby - I’ll have a scout round the local news and see what I can find.
Anyway there’s two bridges and they can always relax the weight limit through Hamworthy if need be.
Use the other bridge 1/4 mile upstream
just as derf says new bridge already in place, its a bit of a tight left turn when joining the old blandford road after crossing the new bridge at the traffic lights but they have taken away the two lane markings to let you take a wider turn, there will of course be times when the new bridge is closed to let the boats under.
And of course there will be times when it has simply broken down - it has happened, y’know
