The UK does use buildings that were once 4* hotels.
4* hotels provide room service, and loads of other stuff that they do not give tom asylum seekers. Guests in 4* hotels do not share rooms with other guests.
I have provide many links in the past to show that France and the UK offer similar levels of support, housing, food, health care, etc to asylum seekers.
Those on Dunkirk beach are not seeking asylum in France. They are trying to get to the UK for whatever reason.
French charities give extras to asylum seekers just as charities in the UK do. More or less? I dunno.

27 EU Member States and 4 Schengen Area Associated Countries: Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein all hace access to Eurodac. Not (currenrtly) the UK. It shares infromation on asylum seekers who shop around for asylum in various countries. If they are refused in country A and then try again in country B, B can input the fingerprints and see why they were refused in A instantly. They can see if they have any convictions in other member states.
We used to be in line for that, but left it all behind in 2020.
