Polishing the lorry

I take handy wipes (baby wipes) with me because some other drivers are clarty ■■■■■■■■ and since I’m gonna spend a lot of my day in the thing the 2 mins to clean it up is worth it

I see everyone here is saying “no I wouldn’t pay to wash my gaffers truck” but some pay gladly for bling on their bosses vehicle.

What’s the difference■■?

Easy, they are gullible cabbages that cannot or do not see that they are being taken for a ■■■■ by their bosses, the others aren’t and would do. Hope that helps.

My boss buys mine. Yes I even make an effort now, not bad for an 02 reg.

I see you’ve even fitted a sybian, stainless steel makes sense on that kind of work too.

weekends are for the cabin at the lake wi the family and a flat o beer. jimmy

any carp in the lake? Best way to live pal, family and lake as I don’t drink beer anymore! :grimacing:

aye perch,jackfish.walleye. and if I go to another lake… trout. pelican lake MB>

They pay for bits and bobs ( nothing too fancy, light bar alloy wheels) I look after them , simple it reflects on me to look after the kit that pays the bills .

I put more effort into my current truck because it’s the best job I’ve had. I had a very nice CF spacecab on flour but the job was crap so I didn’t care about the state it was in, despite doing about 1 night out a week in it.

65hrs driving a week

:open_mouth:

What’s wrong with that?? Well within the hours of service of no more then 70 hrs work over 7 days

Jet wash at the end of every shift and a once over with a baby wipe in the inside if it’s lucky

They don’t pay for cleaning materials or else I’d be more than happy to polish away whilst waiting to be tipped as I get bored to tears waiting.

I keep mine clean, but wouldn’t dream of polishing it. We have a roll over brush wash and a good pressure washer, so it’s not hard and I get paid by the hour. In weather like this it’s better to keep it clean, because that helps to keep me clean. Opening and closing curtains that are caked in filth always leads to some of that filth being transferred to me.

I polish mine, inside and out, every chance I get. Yes it’s not mine but I am the only driver so I look after it. Polishing the outside every so often makes it easier to wash.
The only excuse for a dirty lorry is laziness.

For those saying it’s not there truck, why should I bla bla, would you apply the same to a home you were renting? It’s not mine I’m not cleaning it?
I spend a lot of time in the lorry, I’m the only one who drives it,I like cleanliness, therefore, I clean the lorry.
Don’t see how it’s an issue really.

Nobody, well not me anyway, is saying you should not wash your motor and keep it clean, but you say you polish it outside every chance you get :open_mouth: … that smacks a bit like OCD to me mate, …but each to his own.
I said before I polish the inside, as I live in it, and wash the outside, but as for polishing the outside, I couldn’t be arsed, unless of course the boss asked me to and paid me for it, I just laugh at these stars parked up for the night with a tin of polish in one hand and a rag in the other  , as well as questioning the legality of it, and the guy’s intelligence.
I never used to polish the motors I owned, so somebody else’s, has no chance. If you interpret that as me being lazy I couldn’t give a ■■■■.
As for your ridiculous rented home analogy, same thing,… clean and polish the inside, keep outside tidy leave the ott rest to the landlord.

I rent my flat, and I can’t wait to get to get up a ladder at the weekend and polish the brickwork

Your only allowed to do 56 hrs driving a week maximum. I think you meant 65 hours combined driving AND work

aye folks I work 65-70hrs mon-friday,usually 12-13hrs driving day wi an hr extra for pre trip, fueling etc. As for loading the wheels hardly stop before a shovel is throwing 3.5 buckets on.
The point I was trying to make was by the end o the week I am sick o the sight o my buggy and polishing it not on my list of life choices!..by the way im on the Canadian prairies. jimmy

Just don’t wash or polish them then.
It’s not really a problem either way.
I like the look of a clean truck. The shiney bits are supplied so I keep them shiney. I sometimes do it even on my 45. ( I know, shock horror)
But don’t pity me or feel sorry for me. I get paid by the hour with time and a half after 39 and double bubble after 5 hours on a Saturday.
It’s a good job with good kit and I intend on holding on to it.
And the fact that I polish the lorry outside once a month or so means I can wash it in 5 minutes flat for the rest of the month.

If you don’t want a clean truck, I don’t see the problem but what I will say is it’s much easier to keep it clean than to get it clean. It’s only hard work once.
