Poland is in the eu, so Polish drivers have the right to work in any eu country, same as English drivers do.

Why don’t you start a thread entitled “English Imported Drivers”, concerning the British drivers who work in Belgium, Germany or the USA?

Or is that somehow different?

Are the English drivers working abroad being paid the minimum wage is there is such a thing in the countries they work in i wonder■■?.

Here in GERMANY at present the best type of work as a lorrydriver is

to work for a factory as a driver. The hours and the work is more

humane and they keep to the driveing hours. MOST of the other firms

ie bigname firms etc do not keep to these . The system of

useing holiday notes to hide the fact that the driver has done

more time than allowed is used by every firm, and the drivers do it

because the are frightened of loseing there job and therefore haveing

to start all over again new. WE need here in GERMANY a vist from

the VOSA to help educate the BAG how to properley check

the transport firms office and paper work . still this will never

happen. Most firms pay a monthly wage for a 51-60 week not

a lot of normal transport firms pay hourly. These are normaly

only a small amount of the companies ie, HOYER; EDEKA; SPAR

ETC; also in the TIPPER branch etc, When you have found a good

firm here then you stay with the firm so long as one can.

Dont mind the Polish over here, (better than the french) so long as they pay the same tax, ni & paid the same wages, but how likely is that?

Its not racist by saying they accept a lower wage because of who they are, rarther that a lower wage in this country is far higher than they can achieve in their own country… So they probably think they are onto a good thing. Same as if I could double or trebble my wage by working in Poland. Why would I care if I undercut their wage? NO!

Isnt that racist? Im offended that my or any other persons views are belittled in such a way, and to accuse a certian section of people, because of who their parents are or where they were born that their views are parthetic, just because of that?

Oh Dear! :unamused:

some people need to get of there high horse.just becouse some people dont want polish ,bulgarian, etc doesnt mean they are racist or anything .
but the more that come over to fill the vacancies the crap money will still be paid but give it a couple of years and the money in there own country will go up due to being in the eu im not politicaly correct and dont want to be either but theres nothing wrong with looking after no1.
.

People are losing sight of the issue here. Its not whether we like Poles or Czechs as people as I’m sure most of us would have no problem with them, its about numbers and how its managed. Dont forget that at the end of the day, the average Pole doesn’t give a crap about your job, your livelihood and your family, he only cares about his own. Plus, do you think that the average employer cares enough about you as British drivers to keep employing you when he could get cheaper elsewhere and put more money in his own pocket? Poles indeed do have the right to work in this country, but we also have the right to be cautious about what that could mean, and past experience with the merchant navy has shown a complete replacement of British workers where the employers have had a free hand to do as they wish. So do as you like, welcome as many into this country as you can count, shake all their hands, do whatever, but be prepared to be looking for alternative employment when your company who shares your view of allowing them to work here, actually employs them over yourself.

nice 1 robin

Well, as someone who IS an imported driver…

It’s unreasonable of us to complain too much that companies are hiring from abroad. But it’s also a problem that companies are competing so hard with each other that they can’t afford to pay us a decent wage. We need to be rid of the cheapskates and outlaws who are running (usually) illegally or cutting dangerous corners.
We have a bigger problem than the hiring of Poles to do our jobs, and it’s not the fault of the Poles. The poor Poles are only the sign of the malaise affacting the industry.

so as an english driver looking for work in france, as i live over here and have been for the best part of 2 years does that make me wrong as well
i have sat the french fimo (eqv nvq) that took me 6 weeks and i cant find work, keep getting the dear john letters and one company just said not interested and put the phone down :imp: :imp:
i except i wont earn as much as i would in the uk, but the cost of living is less here. the poles will soon find this out for themselves when they are working for less money and end up in debt and high tail it back to poland.
it is probly a fad that will pass and then the british trucking industry will then have to do some serious back peddling to get its own drivers back, by which time it will probly be too late.
even the french trucking industry is feeling the effect of the eastern europeens coming in and under cutting on national transport let alone international, just look in the services over here and see how many cheq and ploish wagons are there and that doesnt include mr betz :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

damned fair assessment that. and well spoken.

During the Battle of Britain, there weren’t any complaints about Polish fighter pilots “Driving” our Spitfires. Payback time.

Bit tongue in cheek that one but hey, same rules apply. There will be some influx of drivers and other workers but most Poles and others would rather live in their own country than come here perm. Spread the money about a bit is what I say we’ve prolly been hoarding it for too long anyway.

if i had the chance to go abroad increase my wagesand give my 2 little girls a better life ,id be off like a shot EVENif it meant i fubared somone elses job . call me what you want but i do it for me and mine end of story

oh please, don’t get all indignant on me ralliesport i’m as english as anyone on these forums but having actually been out in the big bad world amongst johnny foreigner (and not as a pongo stuck in a barracks far removed from the locals) maybe i don’t suffer so much from the xenophobia which people seem to be hiding behind all this [zb] about truck driving

i consider myself a bit of a socialist but even so do you expect transport firms in the UK to do nothing when the steadily more inept and unprofessional pool of LGV drivers dwindles year on year - park some of their trucks up AND pay silly wages to run the remaining ones? wake up and smell the coffee eh?

Small one.L.
