Polish Firm Recruiting

I had to smile to myself the other day when I was overtaken by a Polish motor and on the back of the trailer were a few telephone numbers with a big sign next to them saying “Join us”. Does this mean there is now a shortage of drivers in Poland.

Ps.not having a go about foriegn drivers just sharing a light hearted moment

PEKAES or PKS is the former Polish state owned bus and haulage company which went private several years ago, the advert “Join Us” is for investors in a successful worldwide transport operation.

Pekaes and Hungarocamion were once the largest transport companies in Eastern Europe.

Its a shame that Hungarocamion will cease to exist soon when they all go under the Warberer name and colour scheme.

Its probably just me, but I can’t remember when I last saw a Pekaes truck on the road here. Though it is true that I’m on the road far less at the moment.

That is just the same as what happened to the Bulgarian transport company. SOMAT was state owned and like Hungarocamion and PKS had to make a profit, the only way for it to make a profit was to sell it off to a private operator who understands market forces and competition. That is why Willi Betz are flourishing.

In Britain when the transport industry was nationalised it created corruption, bad practice and low wages.

British Road Services
Hungarocamion
Somat
Pekaes
Sovtransauto

They will all end up in the same place.

so private firms are not corrupt, have bad practices, and low wages?per lease!

Certainly!

With private companies you have every chance to move your business or your labour if you dont like it. With a monopoly, who do you go to to move goods.

I remember the huge payoffs to Tate & Lyle staff, another nationalised industry!

Anyone who went to the Eastern Bloc will have handed copies of load manifests to the state run hauliers. To enter Hungary the agent was Hungarocamion, the agent in all the other countries was operated by the state run haulier.

P & O had a similar system here in Dover, They knew every load coming in and out, and where it was collected

P & O Ferrymasters was then undercutting rates to get work

Would you happen to know if the Turkish company Ulusoy is a state run firm ?

yes Hungarocamion will be no more in soon cos Waberers take over the business and sadly old traditional hungarocamion yellow livery will over so replace stupid sun face livery blue n yellow Waberers livery will replace!

I m not sure Ulosoy are belong state company firm but good question too! i think now they own running the firm, i have seen thier website

ulusoy.com.tr/eng/transport/index.asp

Pekaes, they r still running company, i notice they have nice new motor - Magnum, Stralis, Actros yellow with plain black trailer but sadly old livery - rainbow color strip with gold rings with black canvas, they will be no more use longer
