This has been forecast for a while now that eventually drivers from the ascension countries being used as cheap labour would eventually start to demand terms and conditions more akin to Western European drivers.
Good luck to them in their quest for better conditions as this can only have a positive effect on our own industry as an equalization of costs should enable a more even playing field on rates.
We had similar at our local tsco Depot.
Polish Drivers were the Job cancelled 2 Times a week or more often. It happened every other Time that the Job got cancelled at very Short Time.
Suddenly,One day non of the Polish turned up,and the other Eastern European were busy and couldnt do overtime.
Very little cancelation to Polish Driver since then,as they hold together.
Now is it me and another 2 or 3 which dont belong to a bigger Group.

Good for them and I agree with what you said and hopefully they can negotiate a huge pay rise.
