"Police follow this van" signs?

“Police follow this van”
FFS Can someone please explain to me what the hell those signs are all about on the back of vans? What is the point of them?
I’ve never seen a copper following one yet

You wouldn’t be moaning about them if you were driving the money van with the sign on it

I used to work for Securicor…They’re on there because not so long ago there was a spate of vans and trucks being cornered and money stolen. But you’re right, police never do follow them.

could be a “plain wraper” , as dont think criminals would take out a van or even attempt to if it had 7 normal police cars and a helicopter following close behind it :exclamation: :unamused:  :grimacing: :grimacing: they want to catch the criminals i’d imagine

plus its a detterent as criminals prob wont know if there is or isnt a police car following it from a distance…

It doesn’t mean the police sit behind it all day during it’s shift. It’s just letting potential robbers know that the vehicle is being tracked by the police and it’s owners. :bulb:

It’s cos he’s got satnav and the coppers haven’t.

Police follow this van - it’s off to the dougnut shop :exclamation: :exclamation:

they are only followed if seen at night but some times you get stickers saying “if seen after 7pm please stop!”

Some Police forces have an agreement with G4S (and other security firms) that if a mobile police patrol is available and happens to be in the same vicinity as the cash in transit van then they may follow it to provide a visible deterrent. Great idea in theory, but in the real world immediately available PC’s are as rare as rocking horse s***!

I did Cash In Transit for Securitas in Liverpool for 3 years, the police follow you, covert, overt, with a helicopter and even PCSO’s on pushbikes. They follow ATM vans in particular and you can get robbed with them watching,it has happened. It can be a bit embarrassing sometimes because Securitas give you lousy addresses and you don’t always know where you are going so you end up getting the police lost as well. When the police are with you you can carry much more cash over the pavement,it keeps the insurance companies happy.I wouldn’t go back but they are always looking for drivers,£10 per hour on vans and £13 or so on trucks ,easy work and you will easily earn £25,000 without much effort.Might be worth considering if your stuck for work, looks good on a C.V.

i worked for securicor in ireland and scotland for years, many many times we had special branch (armed with uzis) following us in unmarked cars, although the gardai werent exactly inconspicious, many a time id be sitting in the van waiting for my buddy to come out the bank with the money and im looking at the overweight man in a shirt and tie struggling out of the ford mondeo, throwing his mcdonalds wrapper on the ground, proceed to get a case out of the boot, assemble a sub machine gun AT the boot, then sit back in the car with his coffee in one hand and the gun on his lap.

swear to god if any ■■■■ went down, youd wanna run like fruck cos they just shoot at anyone.
