Police Convoy A34 (5/10/14)

Did anyone see the police ■■■■■■ on the A34 northbound this morning? Around 10/15 white sprinters with a Land Rover with satellite dish on the top sandwiched in the in middle plus around 6 traffic cars, was quite a sight! Anyone know what it was for, never seen one like that before!

■■■■■■ for a politicians ego.

There was one on the a1m nb today. 2 police escorting 2 7.5ton looking lorries, all moving at 60-70ish in lane 2/3, in a hurry to get somewherr

Prison wagons with high risk people being taken to/from court usually done like that. Bomb disposal use DAF 7.5s too but those are usually with lights & markings. As for first post, that sounds like some important MoD type transfer or similar.

That would need a wide load ■■■■■■ …

IF it was half a dozen “city of London police” cars with Securicor trucks, it would no doubt be a money shipment, I`ve seen them running up the A1 past Doncaster regularly.

The prison service do have big Securicor style trucks, albeit painted white with an orange stripe. I`ve seen 1 based at leeds prison, & is used for transferring high risk inmates to Cat A prisons in the area (wakefield, full Sutton etc)

I think you will find in this case the ■■■■■■ was for one of the last few HGV drivers. Apparently he had
3 agencies competing for his services on a RDC run.

I remember coming over the M62 at Saddleworth one day and there were about 5 cop cars with armed coppers in each, police outriders 3 cat a prison trucks and the helicopter tear arseing along the side of the M62 making sure the road ahead was clear then circling around the ■■■■■■. I read the papers that day and found out it was the court case at either Bradford or Leeds crown court for them that killed that copper in that armed robbery in Bradford City centre.
There wasn’t a cat in hells chance they were going to be broken out even if someone tried.

How are 7.5t wagons doing 60-70MPH?

130simon - sounds like the ones I saw - they were dafs and had blue lights on.

Radar19 - at a guess they had speed limiters disabled? I wsd sitting at 56 and they tore past me. I guess if they’re emergency service vehicles they don’t need them.

If they where DAFs, just go in with the DAVIE and change the max speed settings…

If the police were armed then it could be instant sunshine, certainly along the a34.
