Police cars and downloading digicards

Is it only a motorway patrol car and a Vosa van that can read the digi card, can a local bobby car see the history on the digi card, does the local small police car have the machine for digi cards?

Not sure, but I got pulled off a copper in Norfolk and he downloaded my car, but it didn’t look like a panda car, so may have been traffic

Thanks for that,it must be only the traffic cops then.

And in the not too distant future the police and VOSA will not have the need to stop the lorry to check hours on the tacho, there is technology coming so that as they pass you in their car or van they can see how all the information and what offences with no need to stop you, there is something similar now, where the boss can monitor your driving hours as he can see it on his computer while sat in the office so when a client rings in for a job he knows what time his truck can arrive without the driver telling lies and saying my time is up and can not make that when he can.

The next step is to implant a microchip on every driver so that they can monitor whether he gets enough sleep.

Not in Northumbria.

My brother in law has admitted to me last week that Northumbria’s traffic division don’t have the know how when it comes to HGV’s, and they just ring VOSA if they have a query.

Ken.

I know if you’ve been a good boy or not:)

i asked vosa about this wifi type stuff and they just laughed i think thats a rcd waiting room one . no doubt its avalible but i doubt this goverment will want to spend on it

The technology is already in place on the tacho, and has been since it’s inception, how do you think the unit display reads your card. It’s not that big a step to use the canbus and stick some wireless tech in there, which has already been done by one company. However the tech isn’t generic, as in there doesn’t seem to be a format which can be universally read by uniforms passing by.

It’s a chip not infrared, definitely bollox that one.

Will it be able to read my digicard sat in my pocket whilst I’m driving the analogue tacho lorry I’ve had for the last 6 months? :grimacing:

Stan

Stobarts I know for certain hook into the tacho in real time so they know exactly what you have done and what you can or can’t do, linked into the microlise or whatever system it is they use. That’s absolutely 100% certain.

with regard to the company i work for they monitor drivers hours through the tachograph if you have a infringment it comes through the post in one day

The technology is already there, it’s called Bluetooth.

We have a machine called the fleet board in our unit’s. This tell’s the office where we are what we have done, and also show’s any infringements.over rev’s, idoling, harsh breaking, etc etc, Now their fitting a machine :unamused: where as the customer will know what time we will be their, and how much time we have :open_mouth: they can even print their own delivery paper work from them…Oh and yet another spy in the cab, for them planners  so i think the police will have the tecno to look whilst passing

i got a tug on the M6 a couple of weeks ago. he just asked for printouts for the last 3 days

Pretty much sums up why I decided to become an owner-driver.
