NEW LAW just for non-POLISH vehicles
Have just read the latest german trucking magazine
in which it has reported a new law has been passed
in POLAND.The driver of any vehicle which is not his
-her propertey,MUST have autherisation from the
owner in form of a letter in their possession.which
allows the person who is mentioned in the letter
to drive the vehicle.Poland is at present the only
EU country to have brought in this law,
I stand to be corrected here but I have always carried a letter of authorisation off my employer (at the time) to be allowed to drive the vehicle.
As far as I am aware this has been needed for years.
It’s definataly mandatory in Malta you get checked as you come off the boat.
i used to have that for france 3 years ago now, and also a letter to say if id had a holiday to explain any missing tachos.
I agree, it’s been required in France for years.
SORRY but all we have to carry for FRANCE
here in GERMANY is a written form, of
contract of employment and this has to be
in three languages,FRENCH;GERMAN
ENGLISH; and yes if required a written
offical form stateing why i have no
record of driveing time,as regards when
either ;ILL; HOLIDAY; or doing other work
where no tacho-equipped vehicle has
been driven, as posted poland
is the only country which at present has
introduced this law.The report about
the new law comes from the office of the
rhineland-pfalz ministry,
I used to carry a letter of authorisation 30 years ago when doing M/E.

I have to carry a letter, a copy of my contract of employment and a payslip and get asked for them all.
It was the same in Germany and even needed a social security number

I often used to get asked for a letter in Germany, until I pointed out it was my name on the vehicle documents, and the side of the cab.
I didn’t have a contract of employment with myself or pay slips to produce.
I heard that about France some years ago. My log book is normally enough
Ithink it came in in france around 2000 i got a tug on the peage on the a16 and parked up coz i didnt have one.I rang my boss and he said ive got them on my desk here they just arrived. After much negotiation i was on my way after being let off with a photostat copy.
I’m not saying you don’t need them for France, but I have never been asked for one and to my knowledge never had one. Although it could have been tucked away amongst all the other bumpff I suppose. Or is it only for foreign vehicles? I have had a letter from the boss to say I have been on holiday from time to time, always when doing something extremely urgent.
I got a pull last year from les douaniers just short of the german border, they had a look in the back and the cab but never asked for any papers.
