Pokemon Go, A health hazard or Adventure for Truckers

As I like to keep up with what the cool kids are doing there’s a new craze sweeping the nation in the form of a phone app called Pokemon Go.

Basically you use your phones camera to find random cartoon like creatures with various magical abilities.

For drivers this means getting off ones arse to walk about and do stuff.
Great for fitness, not so good for wandering round elf and safety environments whilst glued to ones phone.

Course if we are careful things should be fine but be more wary of the general public wandering into the road whilst glued to their phone trying to catch one of these characters.

For those who aren’t familiar with Pokemon it’s a character based game with various addictive qualities where characters can fight and get bigger and even evolve into different characters. Not shag though, believe me I’ve tried to get them to perform coitus and it doesn’t work.

Anyway just downloaded the game (apk file from google) and I’m off to catch me one, apparently there’s a pikachoo, charmander and wetclunge nearby.

Sad I know but let’s stay abreast of current crazes, better than Brexit anyway.

I’m playing it as well!

Being 25 I grew up in Pokemon so I guess that makes it a little more acceptable!

Great app for getting people out walking. Seems to be doing wonders for kids in America who are now going outside to play this game and socialising with people rather than being sat inside on a PlayStation.

I see no harm in it if used with some common sense. I’ve been parked up at Cobham services today and it’s made killing time a lot easier and healthier than sitting in the cab watching films. I’ve even got chatting to other people who’ve been playing it here.

I like the fact that while it’s a free app with in game purchases, unlike most games you don’t really need to spend money to progress. Nintendo really seem to have hit it in the head (proof is in the pudding as their stock value has gone up a whopping 40% in the last few days!)

How do you get it on your phone? I can’t find it in the App Store

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t downloaded it, seems like a good way to go out and about and the way it’s been made does seem quite smart although putting some of them out in lakes and things has caused a few deaths. :unamused: Lots of activity around parks and landmarks so be extra vigilant around those kind of places I guess, lot’s of people staring at their phones.

It’s going viral.

It’s only released in the US, New Zealand, Australia and Germany so far, the best place to get it is here.

Its not yet released in the uk yet.!!!

Only way to get it in the uk is to change the region of your phone to non uk.

It like to see the look on mum’s face, when young Johnny comes home, excitedly clutching his iPhone, telling her he got a picture of wetclunge…

I much prefer the British way of using chairs

People are getting robbed with this.

Is it similar to PokeAMum? :open_mouth:

As I’ve played that!

Get the apk file from google as its not region specific.
Search pokemybum go apk and jobs a good un.
Edit: pokemon not pokemybum, bloody auto ■■■■■■■■.

Apparently it’s also socially unacceptable to hang around schools and ask kids to come in the woods and look for Pokemon. Bloody political correctness gone mad.

Soooooo, basically ( and I may have the wrong end of the stick here, usually do!) you walk around a town centre, supermarket or somewhere , looking at the camera screen on your phone waiting for a superimposed Pokemon image to appear on the footage…?

Jesus, how did we win the war

Sort of, there’s a map screen which shows you in the local area with different markers around and things which you need to walk to and then you go into the camera mode when you find one, I have sadly been unable to witness the madness yet, only throw a ball at the face of the one that starts in front of you.
