20m, but it would be a cool inspection light wouldn’t it This is actually on a Dr Who set in South Wales
And as a final… You think the swing is big on your wagon I have to reverse past this (without hitting it) to refuel. I do recall taking the mirror off that machine about a year ago. The regular driver didn’t mind as it was already cracked and had to be replaced
how do you get these jobs?would love to do summat like that, bored rigid of being no more than a steering wheel attendant,up mway, drop catch, back down mway, all to times and mileage that the computer generated trip sheet dictates zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
You could start by finding a platform company in your area and asking them for a job. You’d probably start off on the little stuff and move up from there…
Especially if you’ve a HGV licence anyway
That last one was a 45t truck rigid, so only a class 2 needed
I have found though that a lot of my photos seem to be of the machines more than the views, and I think I need to be taking more of views than the machines

If you’re interested in working for the company then contact Nationwide Access in your relevant area, ask to speak to the Skylift Division in your area and then when you get through you should be speaking to one of the area operation managers.
VMP26 is where you’d start, which is up to 26m in height. Majority of those are on 7.5t chassis and lower. For higher that’s VMP100, and those are on HGV chassis.
The rigids can be driven on rigid licences. Even the 72m 60t truck, but I think that one needs a movement order
Money wise, you’d be looking at about £7-8 basic as HGV, depending on depot/area
Crane work might pay more but I’ve no knowledge on that.
I presume you mean Nationwide Access on Old Church Road? You could do worse than wonder into the main workshop building and ask for the foreman there.
Not that it matters, as I don’t work for them anymore. But I’ve got 4 years of photos that will still be appearing on the web over time.
You only need a class 2 for the platforms but you need a licence to operate the machines as well. Money wise, well, I think you’d do better at other firms than with this company. ISTR Class 2 was only £7.80ph!
The original posting was made a few days before I quit the company. But when you lose faith in the important things, then everything else doesn’t matter any more. And at the end of the day, I was the one up in the cage.
Didn’t George Michael sing “You gotta have faith!”
