Pointless speed limits

Why are there speed limits on roundabouts that are on a dual carriageway?

Point in question, A46 M6 to Coventry (though there are plenty of others), national speed limit to the island then 40 signs for 20 yards on the island then NSL on the dual again.

What’s the zb point? You’ve gotta slow for the island anyway so why post superfluous signs and limits?

How much does it cost a local council in these times of austerity to change a speed limit? I’m talking lawyers fees and advertising in the local press?

What a waste of time and (your, mine, our) money :smiling_imp:

Hi,

There are a couple of these 40mph signs at roundabouts near to where I work. The only reason I can see them being there is that a couple of the roads off the roundabout are 40mph zones. Not too sure if this is the case with the A46 M6 junction though.

Cheers,

Neil.

There are some car drivers who would easily exceed these limits whilst driving round roundabouts.

more of a waste when you get a 40mph repeater sign then a 30mph sign within about 20 yards.
