POA

It is with great embarrassment that I have to own up to booking POA today for the first time ever.

I got to Holyhead today and was parked in the lane waiting to board the ferry at 11:30, where I would be until 13:00 when I would be called forward to board. I knew it would be 13:00 as I had dangerous goods on board and they always load them first at 13:00. I put the tacho on break, or so I thought, but when I glanced at the tacho just before moving to board I saw I had messed up and must have pushed the mode switch twice and stuck it on POA instead of break.

I’ve done a printout and written an explanation that I selected the wrong mode and it should have been break and I have put the time down on my timesheet as break and not POA so hopefully I will get away with the error.

My question for the legal ‘experts’ on here is this, does the fact I have done a printout to ‘correct’ the misuse of the mode switch mean I can still say I have never booked POA or am I screwed?

Don’t know for sure. You could always ask the “compliance manager”.

its no good asking us, we’re usually asking you

Think of this as payback time. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Well as it’s you and as it was unintentional we could forget that you’ve now used POA

We could but probably won’t :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a printout that says I haven’t used POA, I’m going to get a little frame for it. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you scan it and put it on here, we shall all use it and hold it against you when you attack Conor.

Did you know in advance how long it would be before someone took the ■■■■? :stuck_out_tongue:

… I had dangerous goods on board …

IIRC Neil, didn’t you once mention that you don’t/didn’t carry DGs?

As for the POA, isn’t it the case that the print-out you made corrects an error?
If so, you’ve still never used POA and your record is still intact.

Limited Quantities so have to declare it to Stena Line and they put us on the open deck, although sometimes they just put us on the top enclosed deck. Today I had, in a load consisting of 855 parcels, 44 fibreboard boxes and 6 receptacles of the product. I like doing it because being first onboard means you get first choice of the food before others pick over it and do things like dropping gravy or peas in the custard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Blimey. What a turn-up for the book :open_mouth: :open_mouth: There was me thinking that you were the uber-expert , on all questions legal, and technical, on this site. :stuck_out_tongue:  It would appear that I am not the only one on here subject to being occasionally “confused” :stuck_out_tongue:  Taxiiii!!

Although you havn’t booked it you did use it !
You’re going to have to choose your words carefully in future and make sure you never say…“i’ve never used POA” as you now have    Accidentally or not !!!

I have never booked as much as a single minute of POA since it started.

How’s that?

Not me, I know the easy stuff like the tacho rules but for the more complicated stuff I just try to sound as if I know what I am talking about but I am generally just winging it.
