POA Question

Righto im parked up or in a very slowly moving que Tacho on POA & for whatever reason I have to move the motor, something stupid like a foot or so totaling 20-30 seconds of driving, Ive got no choice I have to start the engine to move it & afterwards im going to contunie waiting on POA.

Can I count a continuos period of POA or as I currently do break the period for a minute or two & then count the POA either side to the nearest 15 mins. ?

Technically** unless you know what the time will be between movements in advance, either by being told or based on experience, then it can’t be claimed as POA. Might be easier just to put it on break, you may not get enough time to use the periods toward Driver’s Hours Rules and/or WTD breaks, but they would still count as periods of break so would not count toward your WTD working time.

As an aside why would you count the POA to the nearest 15 minutes? There is no minimum time to qualify as POA and whatever the length of time a period of POA is then that is what it counts as.

** There is a difference between what is technically right and what happens in the real world.

yep cheers coffee ive just re read the WDT on POA & noticed something thats a bit confusing to the lets say illittiterate(& it not the wdt0

Ive just pulled ou of my bag my folder with a Sainsburys Agency timesheet the followin is copied directly from it

POA’sneed to be recorded in minutes using the correct time box.
A POA is a minimum of 15 minutes
At the start of a POA your tacho mode needs to change to spare (theres a picture of the square box)

Spot the mistake which could be confusing to some & thats probably where i got my 15 mins from & there training drivers to that i beleive.

Ive just re-educated myselfe Again

Doesn’t surprise me. When I did an assessment for them there were two mistakes in the Tacho rules section of the tests they give you, making it impossible to give the correct answer. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: I wrote the correct answers in, instead of choosing one of the wrong answers available, which seemed to really ■■■■ off the guy who was taking my assessment.

THIS is the official WTD regulations, no mebtion of a minimum period for POA anywhere in the document, which means there is no minimum.

ahem your link is wrong but i already have official copies of everything WDT GV262 & the Vosa version of the GV262

   Sorted now. Trying to do too many things at once, playing two poker tables, watching a video and posting on here. I’m a bloke, I really shouldn’t try multi-tasking. :stuck_out_tongue:
