As far as I’m concerned, poa is nothing but a number fiddling scam, specifically designed to get around the 60 hours limit on your working week.
Absolutely spot on, however its mainly to get around the 48hr average limit. I was driving as a Linehaul driver at Geopost (Interlink/Parceline/DPD) when the WTD was coming in. Union was negotiating a 20% payrise and the company were going for it as they foresaw a big rise in demand for drivers by almost everyone with a 48hr max week as at that time it was 48hrs max, not average, and there was also not going to be a 60hr max either. Then PoA and max 60hrs work a week was announced and that 20% deal went out the window and it was back to arguing over 3%.
